The 14U Division for the Prep Hoops Circuit in Texas showcased the future of high school basketball for years to come. This recap article will highlight the top guards from the 14U competition I observed during the 2025 circuit. These guards have the potential to make a significant impact when they reach high school. 15U, 16U and 17U divisions will follow this recap of the 14U division. Offensively, he scores on three levels, primarily downhill, making a living off his scoring prowess. His passing ability creates numerous open scoring opportunities for his teammates. On the defensive end, he's effective at forcing turnovers on the ball, utilizing his relentless intensity to change the momentum of the game.   What's Next for Sonny? Sonny is now entering his freshman year of high school this fall, and I am confident that he will make a significant impact immediately. Currently, he stands at 5'11” and will likely grow taller, so if he dedicates himself to his craft, I believe he will catch the attention of numerous college coaches. As his high school career progresses and he continues to refine his skills, he will become even more formidable on both ends of the court.     [player_tooltip player_id='2409269' first='Taylen' last='Baxter'] is a skilled shot-creating guard who understands the importance of maintaining spacing between himself and his defenders to ensure the success of his shots. His pace allows him to seamlessly transition between scoring opportunities and setting up his teammates. For a player of his age, Baxter excels in pick-and-roll situations, utilizing his ball-handling skills to create scoring chances and facilitate his teammates' success. Additionally, he demonstrates strong defensive prowess on the perimeter, making hustle plays and contributing to his team's overall defense.   What's Next for Taylen? Taylen, a 2029 graduate entering his first year of high school, possesses the talent to compete against upperclassmen from the very beginning. His quickness, exceptional shooting skills, and ability to make passes even when defenses close in on him will make him a formidable player. As Taylen continues to grow and develop, I wouldn't be surprised if he catches the attention of college coaches.     [player_tooltip player_id='2422694' first='Kayden' last='Williams'], a 2030 athletic guard, is exceptionally talented due to his remarkable ability to score the ball on all three levels at an impressive rate. His speed with the ball in transition is particularly lethal, as he can easily outmaneuver defenders and blow by them in half-court situations or during pick-and-rolls. In pick-and-rolls, he has a knack for finding his teammates and setting them up with precise passes. Offensively, Kayden plays through contact without any apparent discomfort, which is a testament to his resilience. Defensively, he plays up tight on opposing ball handlers, forcing turnovers that result in steals in the stat sheet.   What's Next for Kayden? Kayden will be entering the eighth grade this fall! His game is advanced for his age, as evidenced by his impressive performance during my time watching him on the Prep Hoops Circuit. The game itself was impressive, and I believe he has the skills to compete at the high school level right now. Mark my words, Kayden will become a well-known prospect when all is said and done.     Latrealle Johnson an impactful guard that can give you a little of everything while he's on the floor. Offensively he is not afraid of drawing contact from opposing players as he finds himself at the free throw line a lot. When at the free throw line he showed he can be reliable to knock them down when needed. When open on the perimeter he doesn't hesitate much to shoot the ball from behind the three-point line. Defensively his activity is high on that end of the floor as he can make big time plays in the interior and on the perimeter.   What's Next for Latrealle? Latrealle, a rising freshman, possesses the potential to become even more formidable as his high school career progresses. If he continues to develop, I believe he will quickly find himself on varsity, but he will need to put in the effort to achieve this. Keep an eye out for Latrealle as he expands his two-way versatility.     [player_tooltip player_id='2818295' first='Ben' last='Buth'] was undoubtedly the most enjoyable guard I had the pleasure of watching at the Spurs City Shootout during the Prep Hoops Circuit this summer. His confidence in his game is evident in his play on both ends of the court. His impact on the game is evident through his exceptional shot-making skills, ball-handling abilities, and defensive intensity.   What's Next for Ben? Ben is headed into eighth grade with a bright future ahead of him. If he continues to contribute to his teams' success in basketball, his stock will rise even higher than it already is. It will be exciting to see where his game takes him next.     [player_tooltip player_id='2817058' first='Ari' last='Zuniga'], a guard I had the privilege of watching at the Spurs City Shootout during the Prep Hoops Circuit, stood out for his ability to single-handedly carry the majority of the [program_tooltip program_id='2076446' first='Nike' last='Pro Skills San Antonio'] offense. Offensively, Ari possesses a lethal combination of a polished floater in the lane and a reliable perimeter shot-making ability. He also demonstrated his ability to set up his teammates, ensuring that his team remains actively involved in the offensive flow. With the ball in his hands, Ari has the power to influence the pace of the offense in various ways.   What's Next for Ari? Ari is currently in the 8th grade this upcoming fall, and I believe he'll take his game to new heights as time passes before, he enters high school. His continued development will only enhance his recruitment when the time comes. His guard skills are exceptionally advanced for his age, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear his name mentioned more frequently in the future.
