Akai can look unstoppable when he's locked in. He's a crafty scorer who can break you down off the dribble, hit open shots, and make plays on both ends. But at times, he's passive, and that takes away from the best part of his game, being able to take over. With a big offensive piece gone this year, he'll need to take the reins. I expect him to raise that 9.3 PPG he had as a sophomore to 15+ and form one of the top backcourts in the state. Big rise coming and with that, a jump in rankings go with it.

Stevens is the ultimate glue guy during grassroots, and what stands out about him is his ability to give you a bit of everything. He hits timely shots, rebounds out of his area, and steps up on defense. At 6'3, he has excellent size and gave his team 8.1 PPG as a sophomore. He was on a stacked team and made those hustle plays that stand out, but this upcoming year, he's primed to boost his scoring, playmaking, and rebounding. But now at Valor, it's time to stop blending in and start standing out. Stevens is in our Top 25 right now, but a breakout season could push him much higher.

Davis is a 6'3 athletic forward who plays bigger than his size, serving as his team's leader and captain despite heading into his junior season. As a sophomore, he averaged 8.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, which should have him ranked higher than he is; the production is there. But we want to see it shine in big moments. Against the better teams and to prove it during grassroots and at our showcases and similar events. He's a high-energy player who finishes through contact, throws down transition dunks, and creates his shot. He's on the “prove-it” list this season, but has real breakout potential, and with another big year, can certainly rise in the rankings.

With Colorado's top prospect gone, Carpender steps into the spotlight. Carpender is a 7-foot junior with major upside. Wyatt has showcased rim protection, floor-running, and physical finishes with Elevation this grassroots season, but we don't need it to be flashes; rather, we need it to be the norm. We've seen him use his size well, skying for dunks and controlling the paint, and want more of it. Sitting at No. 32 right now, he has one of the most anticipated seasons ahead. If he puts it all together, a big rankings jump is coming as well as college attention, as he's oozing with potential.

Just outside the Top 25, Hudson is right on the edge of rising or sliding; this season will tell. At 6'5, he's an aggressive rebounder and scorer with deep range, strong in transition, and smart off the ball. With Lutheran's inside presence, he complements perfectly, knowing when to attack or feed the post. After a strong grassroots run, he's ready to embrace a bigger scoring role this season, and I'm expecting that he shows up. Lutheran will be a must-watch unit, and Hudson adds to that.
