The summer of AAU is winding down as we head towards the end of July and man, what a summer it was for our in-state prospects. We had a host of players in every age group breakout and put their names on a bunch of college coaches radars at nearly all levels. With the summer coming towards an end, I thought it would be a great opportunity for us to take a look at 10 players from the guard, wing, and big spots that I feel should generate more interest when it comes to their recruitment. For this one, we take a look at our first five 2026 guards whose recruitment should boost up a little bit.

A player that has proven that he can play at a very high level is Kokomo combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561440' first='Korbyn' last='Hammel']. At 6'3, Hammel is a highly athletic guard that produces everywhere and plays with a high motor and explosiveness. Has a D1 offer and keeps proving he is exactly a D1 prospect.

Silver Creek is arguably the most talented team in Class 3A and the head of the snake for them is point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561483' first='Dane' last='Sprigler']. He is on the shorter end as a guard but is a big time playmaker and can hold his own in the scoring department as well. Playing with 3 D1 prospects makes him better as well as him making those guys better as well.

There may not be a more dynamic point guard in the 2026 class in the state [player_tooltip player_id='1561118' first='Doron' last='Harris']. A guy that plays with elite speed on the ball, Harris is also one of the better shotmakers as well in the backcourt. He plays with an incredible feel on the basketball floor and will be electric for Lawrence Central this season.

A player that is going to step up into a big time role this upcoming season for Westfield is senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1989377' first='Brock' last='Detamore'], who showed this summer he is more than ready. One of the toughest guards you will find in the 2026 class, Detamore just has that big play ability where he always just seems to do the right thing on the floor. He is really a small college's dream lead guard with his ability to score, defend, and facilitate.

In the Evansville area, there may not have been a player that has broken out as much as what Bosse's [player_tooltip player_id='2172596' first='Marrius' last='Harris'] has. A talented playmaker offensively, Harris plays with good speed and athleticism in the backcourt. Very smooth guard that makes plays on the ball at a high rate and can knock down the outside jumper well.
