It was a good weekend for Hammel leading Kokomo to a pair of wins as the Wildkats improved to 10-5 on the season. He scored 22 points in a win over Muncie Central and had 13 points and 6 assists in a win over Tipton. However, this is more of a body of work shoutout to Hammel. This weekend he eclipsed the 1,000 carer point milestone.

. Finishing with a game high 18 points, Hammel was making shots all over the floor and doing it in tough fashion. While he is known as a scoring guard, he also showed to be a great facilitator this game with his teammates benefiting from it. This was a game that showed he is one of the best uncommitted prospects in the state.

Korbyn is an athletic 6’3” point guard that understands the balance of a knowing when to score and when to get his teammates involved. Defensively his versatility shines being able to guard multiple spots on the floor. He looks to turn defense to offense by being aggressive in the passing lanes. He’s not a burner with the ball I. His hands, but he plays at his pace and is extremely aggressive to get the basket. He’s really good in pick and roll situations. If the defender goes under, he’s a confident shot maker that will make you pay. He can turn the corner and get to the paint and play off two feet. If he gets all the way to the rim, he explodes off the floor and is looking to finish above the rim.

Hammel turned in a second straight strong performance on Saturday morning for Phenom United 17u. The 6’3″ guard from Kokomo High School really showed off his downhill quickness and explosiveness as a finisher at the end of his drives. With his combination of size and ability to touch the paint he really has upside as a true point guard at the next level. He flashed some of the vision and passing ability that it will take over the course of the last 48 hours. It will be interesting to see how his recruitment progresses as we get through the month of July.

Hammel was a dominant force off of the dribble in LVL UP – Baumgartner’s win on Friday night. The super athletic, physical, 6’3″ guard went off for 25 points while consistently punishing opposing defender off of the dribble. He was able to physically overpower some defenders on the way to the rim while he used his ball handling ability and quickness to create separation on the perimeter for other buckets. This Kokomo High School product is one to follow closely throughout the spring and summer.
