The Xavier Team Camp was a competitive two day event where teams from across Ohio and neighboring states competed in what was a fun couple days of basketball, in this article I'll break down the 2026 and 2027 standouts from Sunday's action.

The final game of the event I caught was a thriller as Stocks knocked down a mid-range shot in sudden death overtime to secure the victory over Louisville Ballard. One of the quicker on ball guards in southwest Ohio, Stocks does a nice job defending the ball and is tough to stay in front of off the dribble. When Stocks is able to get around his initial defender and play off two feet, he's tough to stop going downhill. Showing more consistent production in the two games I caught, Stocks will be a name to watch for a Summit Country Day squad that has even bigger expectations this season after a regional championship in 2025.

I was impressed with the perimeter skill development Guess showed me on Sunday, looking confident with the ball in his hands and beating players off the dribble, Guess has turned into more of a pure wing than a power forward. His size, length and athleticism makes him a potential impact defender at the college level and after Kettering Alter graduated a monster senior class last year, there's plenty of offensive opportunity up for grabs within the Knights offense this season.

Duke and teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2878780' first='Jyaiire' last='Harper'] could form one of the best guard duos in the ECC this season as both of these players were handing out buckets on Sunday. A super bouncy guard, Duke almost threw down a couple poster dunks and wants to finish above the rim. Also has the shooting range to fire away well behind the 3-point arc, Duke hit a pair of 25 footers in the game I saw. Defensively, West Clermont liked to use a zone defense where Duke is free to gamble with help-side defense behind him. With the guard talent they return, West Clermont could be a sneaky team in Cincinnati this winter.

Pike is loaded with Division I talent across their starting lineup and I caught their win over Huber Heights Wayne in a competitive battle. Miller impressed me on both ends of the floor with a handful of 3-point shots and some tough point of attack defense. I also thought Miller helped make everybody else's job easier as a guard setting the table for his teammates. No play better emphasized Miller's play-making abilities than a sweet alley-oop lob to [player_tooltip player_id='2266896' first='Isaiah' last='Hill'], a majority of Hill's buckets were assisted by Miller on Sunday.

McNicholas new head coach is Waters grassroots coach as Ohio Champion Director Trey Scotti is leading the program that has some positive momentum with their program as Waters led the GCL-Co Ed in scoring as a sophomore and is back leading the program. Obviously, Waters is one of the elite shooters in the state of Ohio and a guy you have to monitor at all times on or off the ball as even his misses were directly on target on Sunday. I noticed Waters really having to work to get open looks and his play-making ability shined brighter with McNicholas than it has at the grassroots level where he's off the ball a little more. I think getting to play a complimentary role with his grassroots team and a primary operator role for his high school program gives Waters the best of both worlds as he gets reps to develop as an on ball player while also playing a role that might be more similar to what he'll play as a freshman in college.

La Salle has some decent size this season and Scales stood out as a wide presence in the paint with soft hands and the ability to finish in traffic. A new name for myself, Scales averaged just 3.6 PPG as a Sophomore but looks ready to be a key piece for the Lancers this season. Scales also has the size where he can grab his own miss and score on putbacks in the paint. GCL-South teams will always have size so Scales will be a key piece for La Salle to battle against some of the other top teams in the conference.
