Here's a look at part two of some of the top shooting guards and small forwards in the rising senior class rankings.

Lee took a pretty big jump in the rankings after his big junior season and the summer he's had with Local Legends RVA so far, and he's a guy who should have college coaches on him now and especially if he chooses to do a post grad year next season. The 6'6” wing brings a lot of versatility to whatever team he's on as he's strong and athletic enough to play and guard in the paint, he can play above the rim when he's out in transition, he's skilled enough to step out on the perimeter and make shots or put it on the deck, and he's continued to get better every year which bolds well moving forward.

14) [player_tooltip player_id='2252296' first='Davion' last='Brown'] | 6'4” SG | Trinity Episcopal (#36 Overall)

Brown is this high on the list despite the fact that basketball isn't his first sport, and would likely be higher if he wasn't a 5 star wide receiver who's committed to Penn State, because he would possibly be a high major basketball player if it was his main sport and focused solely on that. At 6'4” he has a fantastic build and is very physical when he gets downhill to play through traffic, he plays above the rim in transition and is a very good rebounder for his position, he can score the ball from multiple levels both on and off the basketball, and he is a very good defender as well.

13) [player_tooltip player_id='2618837' first='Christian' last='Dinges'] | 6'6” SF | Handley (#35 Overall)

Dinges took one of the biggest jumps in the updated rankings after he had a fantastic junior year and being named to the Class 4 Second Team All State, and he's had a great summer showing one of the biggest jumps in improvement I've seen in the state. The 6'6” wing has really grown into his body becoming more fluid and explosive getting up and down the floor and playing above the rim effortlessly, he is able to put it on the deck and work out of the triple threat, he can hit open shots from deep, and he's very good as a defender and rebounder as well.

12) [player_tooltip player_id='2612850' first='Jafet' last='Valencia'] | 6'7” SF | Evergreen Christian (#34 Overall)

Valencia is a very intriguing prospect that I will admit I may have ranked too low, as he has been fantastic over the past 6 months and showed that with a great showing at DMV Live 1 with Evergreen. The 6'7” wing is a walking mismatch as he can post smaller wings and guards on switches, he can step out and make shots on the perimeter, he can handle the ball and isolate defenders to create shots, and he is very good with fall aways and pull-ups in the midrange area too.

11) [player_tooltip player_id='2612827' first='Logan' last='Jones'] | 6'6” SF | Potomac School (#33 Overall)

Jones has been fantastic for Potomac School over the past few seasons, and had a great DMV Live 1 where he showed his high production while playing out of position as the tallest player on the team. He's a high motor and big time athlete who owns the glass and plays above the rim effortlessly, he can step out and take defenders off the bounce, he's shown the ability to knock down shots from deep, and he's very versatile defensively as he can switch on different defenders and can play in different coverages against ball screens.

10) [player_tooltip player_id='2459361' first='Caleb' last='Straughter'] | 6'6" SF | Varina (#30 Overall)

Straughter is the player I have watched develop the most in the Richmond area over the past few years, as he's grown from 6'4” to 6'7” over the past few years and has improved quite a bit rounding out his ability to score the ball in different ways. He's got a long wingspan and has become more explosive as he's grown into his body to play above the rim in traffic, he has always been a good shooter but has gotten to the point where he can make tough shots from deep on the move, he's improved his ball handling to push on the break and get downhill, and he has huge upside on the defensive end moving forward as well.

9) [player_tooltip player_id='2459209' first='Justin' last='Edwards'] | 6'5” SG | Bishop O'Connell (#26 Overall)

Edwards is another guy I will admit might be too low in these rankings after he had a monster DMV Live 1 where he was highly productive and showed his willingness to do whatever it takes to help his team win. At 6'5” he has a strong frame and has no problems getting downhill to play through traffic or mixing it up in the paint on the defensive end, he is a very good rebounder for his position, he can make shots from deep off the catch, and he has no issue guarding the other team's best perimeter scorer too.

8) [player_tooltip player_id='1767550' first='Andrew' last='Maria'] | 6'5” SG | Bethel Academy (#25 Overall)

Maria has climbed the rankings board since his freshman season at Yorktown, and there's no real surprise as to why he has and that's because he's stayed in the gym and continued to get better and better every time we see him. The 6'5” wing has always been a savvy playmaker and shot maker with good size, he's grown into his body and become much more explosive in the open floor and when he gets downhill to the basket, he is very crafty with his footwork and use of fakes and counters to create space, and he simply makes a big impact regularly without making many mistakes.

7) [player_tooltip player_id='2612817' first='Colin' last='Byrd'] | 6'3” SG | Tuscarora (#21 Overall)

Byrd transferred to Tuscarora midway through the season after being at Paul VI the past few years, and despite coming when he did he still managed to earn All Region honors while helping the Huskies make a run to the state tournament this past season. The 6'3” wing is a prospect I really like because he fits the “3 and d” archetype to an absolute T. He plays with great energy defensively as he moves his feet and fights for 50-50 balls, he can really drill it from deep with good range, he's a strong finisher when he gets downhill, and he's an unselfish teammate as well.

6) [player_tooltip player_id='2879940' first='Aaron' last='McGee'] | 6'4” SG | Gillion Academy (#20 Overall)

DMV Live 1 was my first time getting to watch McGee since he made the move to VA from Florida with a few of his Gillion and Team Breakdown teammates, and I was thoroughly impressed to the point that I think he may be one of the more underrated recruits in the country. At 6'4” with long arms and good pop, he not only looks the part but he also plays with a lot of toughness and is productive on both ends of the floor. He used his athleticism to make some show stopping plays above the rim on both ends of the floor, he showed effortless range and the ability to make shots on the move, he worked well in isolation and pick-and-roll scenarios, and he was one of their more efficient players on the offensive end too.
