He uses his athleticism to create mismatches on both ends of the floor. Straughter had a strong summer with VA Havoc on the UA Rise circuit. He has continued that momentum into the season. He looks poised to come off the board sooner rather than later.

Straughter is comfortable attacking off the dribble, getting to his spots, and finishing through contact. Beyond the scoring, he rebounds well for his position. He has the defensive versatility to guard multiple spots on the floor. His game translates well to the college level. It’s only a matter of time before a program secures a wing who can make an immediate impact. He has been a major reason for Varina’s success this season. He is also among the top players in the region.

Caleb is a long forward that patrols the paint for his squad. He has nice athleticism and a quick jump enabling him to battle against bigger forwards in the paint. We see him moving out more to the perimeter as his games progress improving his ball skills.

Going on a heater from the perimeter early in the game allowed Straughter to remain engaged and impact the game in other ways as well. Still showing plenty of room for growth, I wouldn’t be surprised if Straughter opts to go to a JUCO or post grad school to continue his development before playing at a NCAA program.
