A First Team All-Conference selection and Delaware signee, he has put together an outstanding season highlighted by three triple-doubles — a testament to his all-around impact and versatility. As a wing with good size, he brings a unique skill set, particularly with his ability to pass and facilitate at a high level for his position. The lefty is capable of knocking down open three-pointers, but he is at his best operating inside the arc, where he can use his body control, touch, and feel to score or create for others. A better-than-average athlete, he moves well in transition, rebounds effectively for his position, and impacts the game in multiple phases. His blend of size, vision, and productivity makes him a matchup problem and a college-ready prospect.

Jafet showcased exactly why he earned himself a scholarship at the Division-1 level (Delaware). Jafet was the all-around producer for EC, making plays dishing the ball to his scorers and also creating shots for himself off the dribble. His vision was very impressive, as he found his guys constantly through the game. Made some passes even beyond halfcourt after grabbing the rebound. Jafet was effective from the mid-post position, and just as effective slashing the basket and his matchup 1 on 1. On the defensive end, Jafet was very active and sent back a plethora of layups. Really imposed his will defensively. Drew many fouls and picked up a lot of points en route to a comfortable win.

The Delaware signee is a versatile wing who can really pass for his size. Valencia is averaging 5.6 assists per night for Evergreen Christian. The lefty has a unique combination of size, skill and feel for the game.

Valencia is currently completing his official visit with UMBC through tomorrow and could enter decision-making mode entering next week. The 6-foot-7 southpaw forward is one of the more under the radar prospects in the DMV and used this summer as a springboard to boast his MM recruitment. There’s a chance that he schedules one final visit to Loyola (MD), but it wouldn’t surprise me if he decides between the three programs who he’d have completed visits with after tomorrow: Delaware, Howard, and UMBC.

Jafet had his way with the Glenelg defense during Evergreen’s wire-to-wire win. He controlled the offense in the second half and facilitated almost as well as he could score the ball. Jafet was solid shooting the ball as he had no problem rising over contests and hitting jumpers. His inside game was a problem for the defense as well because of Valencia’s skill when he puts the ball on the floor. His handle allows him to get anywhere he wants at times on the floor so he picked his spots with efficiency. Key player for the Evergreen Christian squad.

He caught the eye in limited viewings after moving cross-country from Veritas Prep (CA) this past season, but Valencia looks ripe for a breakout if his play on Saturday is any indication. Coming off the bench for Durant, he capably shoulders a number of different responsibilities based on situation and surrounding personnel. With size to bang in the frontcourt but the skill and deceptive fluidity to play along the perimeter, he looks to be a valuable jack-of-all-trades who could potentially take on more of a heavy playmaking load in other contexts. The Ecuadorian swingman is certainly on the scholarship radar from this point forward.
