Huan gets a boost up to top-5 territory after a productive senior campaign that resulted in Georgetown Prep winning the IAC title. A true two-way presence around the rim, Huan’s finishing on lobs or after straight-line attacks was made known throughout gyms due to the power and authority he used on the rim. As the season progressed, his instincts as a shot-blocker were made evident especially when he was rotating from the weak side as he does a nice job of avoiding contact in the act. At this point he’s still viewed as a developmental project for head coach Matt Painter and staff, but he could be one that quickly adjusts to the college game and learns how to impact at the Big Ten level with his elite length and size as many other bigs in the Purdue stable have done over the years.

-Huan had some explosive flashes throughout the game on a night where he also showed an improved shooting stroke from the FT line. Huan started things off with a 2-handed lob finish, came up with several on-ball blocks due to better timing on his contests in the low post, threw several 1-handed passes to cutters from the block and high post, and spent the evening ripping through to drive the basketball with his left from the 3 point line to draw FTs or finish at the rim. But his best play of the day came when he showed on a ball screen above the break and sprinted to the rim to block a shot to preserve a 3-point Georgetown Prep lead with 10 seconds left in the game. Huan’s rim protection and afore-mentioned improved free throw shooting stroke (11/12) were the difference in the game for the Hoyas coming away with a big road win.

Sinan was dominant against St. Andrew’s. Started off the game with a couple of nice layups and dunks to announce his presence. Anytime he got two feet into the paint he was able to turn and score. Really one of his better performances in terms of offensive efficiency. Once he established he could control the paint, Sinan stepped out and knocked down a few catch-and-shoot threes. His pivots on the inside were on point and proved unstoppable that Saturday.

The future Purdue big man came into the season with high expectations given the long list of dominant centers over the years that the Boilermakers have invested in. Georgetown Prep has struggled mightily thus far as a team, but Huan has been the bright spot despite seeing not on double, but triple-teams over the course of games. He’s skilled on the block, powerful above the rim on both ends and has shown improved fluidity with his movements around the perimeter.

, the towering 7-0 center for Georgetown Prep and Purdue signee, was instrumental in his team’s victory over Saint Joseph’s. Huan scored 14 points, using his formidable height and reach to control the paint on both ends of the floor. His defensive presence and effective scoring made him a matchup nightmare for opponents, and his ability to influence the game inside was a major factor in Georgetown Prep’s success at the tournament.

The Purdue signee is the ultimate modern big man with legitimate rim-protection instincts and the ability to space the floor or score around the basket. Huan will only get stronger and more explosive over time, but it’s already easy to see him having success at the high-major level. Arguably the prospect with the highest upside in this class, Huan possesses an unbelievable array of tools. Extremely fluid athlete with long arms, effortless explosiveness, and the ability to wreak havoc without really needing the ball in his hands. Defensively, he’s a game-changing piece who can block shots, switch onto smaller opponents, and utilize his athleticism to be disruptive. For Georgetown Prep, he highlighted a ton of appealing flashes on both ends of the floor. His potential is massive. Finish the game against St. John’s with 20 points on 9-12 from the field, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block.

-Huan has the greatest chance to leapfrog his peers this season with more consistent play as he is now the undisputed focal point of things for Georgetown Prep. He re-aggravated a knee injury that sidelined him after several high-level national team performances and had to sit out the rest of the summer but is now ready to go in a pretty wide open year for the IAC. A dynamic shot-blocker that can also finish at a high level around the basket while running the floor– I expect Huan to have a big year for Coach Blue and Co this season.

Speaking of the Buckeyes, they’ll host Huan this weekend for his official visit. One of the more intriguing centers in the class, the 7-foot lefty gained significant momentum this spring and early summer with his play on the EYBL circuit with Team Durant . This is another recruitment that hasn’t been as publicized as others, but Huan has already taken visits of the official variety to Illinois, Northwestern, and Purdue. It’ll be interesting to see if Huan enters decision-making mode after his time at Ohio State.

-Huan has spent the bulk of his summer representing his country (China) in the FIBA U19 World Cup. Huan become much more productive and comfortable within the Hoya’s system as the season went along and flashed some tantalizing upside as an athletic forward prospect that can block shots, finish plays around the basket, and rebound the basketball with some C+S upside as a pick n pop guy. If he can continue to develop to play with more consistency and aggression, he can easily rocket back up our rankings.

A long, physical rim protector with clear upside at the next level. He runs the floor well, anchors the paint defensively, and forces opponents to rethink everything around the rim thanks to his size and length. Rebounded at a high clip — dominating the glass and limiting second-chance opportunities. With his motor, timing, and instincts, he projects as a high-impact interior presence who can anchor a defense and change games with his activity.
