The recent Grambling State commit, Byrd has developed into a dynamic, high-scoring guard who consistently produces at a high level. A reliable shot maker from the perimeter, he forces defenses to respect his range, but he is equally dangerous attacking off the dribble. With his quickness and ability to change speeds, he is tough to keep out of the paint, where he can finish through contact or make plays for teammates when help rotates. Beyond his scoring, Byrd rebounds well for his position and shows the willingness to distribute, making him a well-rounded backcourt prospect who impacts the game in multiple ways.

The high scoring, unsigned senior continued his scoring spree this season with 33 points in narrow loss for Tuscarora. Byrd was impossible to keep out of the paint and was very effective in the midrange. He filled the stat sheet with 11 rebounds and 4 assists and almost single handedly brought his team all the way back from a 20+ point deficit for a win.

In his typical fashion, Byrd brought not only a high level of competitiveness and intensity with his play that demands the most out of his teammates, but responded to adverse scenarios with shining colors. Tuscarora would end up losing in their bracket title game to a very good Dover team and as Byrd’s team trailed by as much as 21 points in the third quarter, the standout combo guard willed the Huskies back and eventually took a lead in the final eight minutes. He finished with a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds while dishing out four assists. Byrd, who recently received an offer from Grambling State, averaged 27 points, 9.5 rebounds, and three assists per game in his Gov. Challenge showing.

Byrd impressed for his Tuscarora team despite playing most of his time off the ball and him having to play a lot of forward due to his teams lack of size. He was very flexible doing whatever he squad needed for them to help win. He had several assists throughout the game and has no issue being a break starter and throwing full-court passes. Byrd took whatever the defense gave him and made a living out of the mid & low post. His ability to play above the rim was also seen. He wasn’t a dead-eye from behind the arc but was able to cash in on a chance from deep. Byrd is a prospect MM-/LM+ coaches need to prioritize.

The high scoring senior guard had 37 points last night in the Skip Fowler Classic in West Virginia. Byrd can play with or without the ball at the offensive end. He has good quickness, is an above average athlete and can create his own offense. The three level scorer is building off this momentum from an impressive summer with Team Takeover National.

-Arguably the biggest stockriser of the spring, I think that trend will continue during the live period as it is typically the time of the year that college coaches tell guys “We like your game, I’ll be at your game”. The combo guard can really fill it up from the perimeter but has added a ton to his offensive game–specifically with his handle and athleticism. Guards that can take guards off the bounce but also be effective coming off of screens and movement are at a premium– as are 3 point shooters. Fully expect that trend to push his name to the top of the list this weekend for several programs.

24p 2a 2r vs TTO Showcase

-The rising senior has been tearing it up so far this AAU season and he was one of the bright spots for TTO National in a matchup with their Showcase team. Byrd hit six 3s, executed a great one-handed push pass off the bounce to his big on the opposite block, scored a nice post-up bucket off the BLOB set, relocated well to open gaps in the zone for 3s, and showed off some improved burst with several above the rim finishes with two hands. A shooting guard that has really worked on his body to become more explosive off the bounce while also guarding up a position or two, he has arguably had the best spring of any guard in the area.

-Not surprising to see him shoot up the 2026 rankings as Byrd looks to continue making a name for himself this summer in a big role with TTO National. Byrd continues to hit shots at a high clip whether they are off the bounce, off movement, or are simply C+S looks. But the improvements have been to his body as he has lost the baby fat and gotten much more explosive in the open court. Had an emphatic 2-handed dunk in transition and showed the improved vert on a backdoor cut for a spike along the baseline late in the game. Love the tenacity that I see out of him at both ends of the floor, the definition of a gamer. Expect him to have a similar ascent late in his HS career like another TTO National guard in Tyler Perkins.

Another steady performance from Byrd showcasing his offensive dexterity. He has a nice burst of speed he can show while motoring to different spots on the floor. He gets to the foul line. Byrd also shows that he can find others for scoring chances of their own. Byrd is also no stranger to playing above the rim and finding ways to make emphatic finishes. He should be seeing a ton of traction from low ones and high twos.

Byrd is an electric factory guard who has a great pulse of finding the bucket in a matter of seconds. He does a good job getting to spots in the mid-range. Byrd had an emphatic finish above the rim that was an exclamation point for his TTO National squads victory. I would like to see Byrd work on his efficiency I feel like sometimes he can just be putting up shots to get them up. He should see traction from D2 programs and low majors.
