It is finally time for the first live period weekend of the AAU season and we at Prep Hoops Indiana are more than excited to see what our in-state prospects do. From Iowa, to Memphis, to Cincinnati, there are multiple places that will be hosting big time AAU events in which there are expected to be multiple colleges coaches in attendance across all host sites. The live period starts on Friday but before we get there, let us look at my first five players to watch for this weekend.

Adding [player_tooltip player_id='2140345' first='Cooper' last='Zachary'] as a player to any watch list is always a "duh" thing to do because he is one of the top guards in the state but for this weekend, it may be his biggest yet. He is running with Indiana Elite 2027 3SSB now and he will be down in Iowa with them for the first live period weekend of the AAU season. Zachary has slowly started to pickup some steam at the D1 level having recently gained an offer from Nevada but this weekend could see him earn many more or at the worst case get more coaches to take notice of him. He is coming off 3SSB Session 1 averaging 22.0 ppg and 3.3 apg and it would not be shocking to see him put up that same type of production in Iowa.

Potential has always been the word around Carmel power forward [player_tooltip player_id='1560952' first='Evan' last='Harrell'] and starting this weekend, we could maybe see that potential come to life even more during the live period. The 6-foot-8 power forward is running with Gran Park Premier this AAU season and will be down in Wichita, Kansas with them for the Puma 17U Pro16 event. This is the third session on the Puma circuit thus far this spring and Harrell himself has had multiple strong showings already. While he does not have as many D1 offers as some of his classmates, it is not too late at all for him to start racking up a few starting this weekend. This could be a breakout weekend for Harrell.

[player_tooltip player_id='2476482' first='Dane' last='Caldwell'] is one of the top players in the in-state 2026 class when it comes to possibly seeing his stock take the biggest leap forward. At 6-foot-8, Caldwell is a highly athletic forward that moves on the floor like a guard with passing skills, handles, and strong finishing around the basket to go with it. Right now, he only has one offer from Eastern Illinois but this weekend could be the start of a host of them coming his way. Every team needs a athletic forward that can be fluid on the floor and that is exactly what Caldwell is. Watch him with Progeny 17u this weekend in Ohio.

The youngest player on this watch list comes from Kokomo High School and will be running with [program_tooltip program_id='2075551' first='Indiana' last='Game'] 2028 UA Rise this weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a freshman, Nash carved out a role for himself for Kokomo and averaged 9.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and added 1.7 assists as well. Nash is a 6-foot-4 small forward that has great physical tools on the wing with bounce to be able to play inside-and-out. He could turn some heads this weekend down in Cincinnati.

Welker is a player that we at PH Indiana have been pretty high on since we first saw him as a freshman and it feels like he is on the verge of a breakout sooner than later. This weekend, the 6-foot-7 wing will be down in Memphis with [program_tooltip program_id='2076927' first='Indy' last='Heat'] 16u and has a chance to start getting his name out there in front of some D1 coaches. A versatile forward that can just score in bunches using his long frame and sneaky athletic ability to make plays on the ball. He will impress some people down in Memphis.
