McDonald’s All-American Scrimmage Standouts

In this article:
The McDonald’s All-American Game Scrimmage was a competitive game between the East and West squads. While the “Big 3” get a lot of the hype there were several prospects who made big impressions on NBA scouts in this scrimmage.
Yessoufou is a 6’5” small forward that is the all time leading scorer in California high school basketball history. He is built like a grown man and plays with the mentality that has made many players at Baylor successful. Strong and physical wing that plays with all out motor on both ends. In a scrimmage it was his defense that set the tone. He had multiple steals which led to points on the other end, trapped creating turnovers, and was diving on the floor after loose balls. The wing is a plus offensive rebounder and can win off the dribble on straight line takes.
With no practice time after winning a state title Moreno was thrown right in the game and was super impactful. The broad shouldered and mobile five man covers so much ground on the defensive end and moves his feet well on that end. Rim protector. Really liked his activity level around the hoop getting on the offensive glass for second chance points along with throwing down an alley-oop along with a sweet reverse layup.

Boozer is the two time Gatorade National Player of the Year. He is a physical power forward that can play both inside and outside. Hit a top of the key three, showed his passing instincts facing up, and was extremely physical getting to the cup. Made trips to the foul line on a regular basis. He is the premier rebounder in this class.
While his brother gets more hype Cayden is a legit potential first round pick in the next couple years. Strong frame as a lead guard who has a feel for getting his teammates involved with crisp passing. Tough takes going downhill.
North Carolina signee opened the game up with a couple of eye popping plays. Explosive dunk off a pass and then caught a shot that was falling short to throw it in. Also flashed defensively with his lateral quickness and anticipation as a shot blocker.

Ament will be announcing his college choice on Tuesday. The nation’s top uncommitted prospect displayed what makes him intriguing with his 6’9” size and length combination. Silky smooth player that poured in feathery jumpers from mid-range and three throughout the scrimmage. A lot of potential on the defensive end too especially once he adds strength.

Abaev impressed me last July with his skilled offensive scoring package. He is a lefty wing that has a free and easy release on his perimeter shot. Creative passer that can get a bit wild with it at times, but overall is a fantastic secondary playmaker. Makes plays in transition with his slick handles.

Burries is a scoring combo guard who poured in a couple threes, had a nice turnaround, and turned defense into offense for points.
