The Prep Hoops Show Me Showdown took place over the weekend in St. Louis. I was able to see every high school age team in the event play and we will be diving into 60+ total Illinois prospects who made an impression. Here is a look at Show Me Showdown: Scotty B's Notable Illinois 2029 Prospects!

Jace Spickerman (Southern Illinois Raptors)

This Staunton point guard lit up the nets on Friday night right out of the gates as he poured in three after three both spotting up and off the bounce around screens. Lefty banged in six from distance scoring 20 points. Has some speed in transition and playmaking potential in his bag.

[player_tooltip player_id='3633486' first='Austin' last='Spickerman'] (Southern Illinois Raptors)

His brother is also a flame thrower as Austin did it from the right side. He knocked in a trio of his own in the win along with pushing coast to coast and getting after it on defense blocking a pair of shots.

Selby Pohlman (Southern Illinois Raptors)

Calhoun point guard is another plus three point shooter on this squad as he made a trio from deep with clean and consistent mechanics. Also brings a good passing feel and instincts to the table as a creator with the rock in his hands.

Brody Eilerman (Southern Illinois Raptors)

Projectable 6'4” forward with nice length. He is tough finishing inside, crashed the offensive glass, and was fluid getting up and down the floor in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='2858512' first='Dylan' last='Souder'] (Southern Illinois Raptors)

Souder is a two sport standout who is already ranked as a football prospect. On the hardwood he is a high level glue guy! Solid overall skill set, connective passing, rebounds well for a wing, and is a big time perimeter defender. Keep tabs on this Breese Mater Dei prospect.

Weston Washburn (Southern Illinois Raptors)

Washburn is a strong bodied forward from Staunton who did most of his damage in the paint. Fouled on a put back, finished out of dunker spot, and ran the floor very hard for points.

Tim Grunfeld (CBG)

Grunfeld was one of my favorite players from the weekend. High motor guard that brings a ton of swagger to the table. Wauconda 5'10” guard might be the new version of the “Baby Faced Assassin” as he put on a show scoring 28 points and that might not even be what he is best at. His passing feel and creativity as a distributor was a joy to watch. Made those around him better in both the half court and transition. Zip on his passes, pushes the pace, and puts the ball right where they can do damage! As a scorer he has a crisp pull up game in the mid-range where he poured in shots at a high clip. Stretched it out beyond the arc on several occasions. Crisp handles set up his shot along with being able to get downhill for dishes along with his creative layup package.

Reed Robinson (CBG)

Robinson is a wing from Richmond Burton with solid size. He is at his best with his shooting from three off the catch along with getting in the mid-range for pull ups. Solid length and should continue to grow.

Micah Zajac (CBG)

Junk yard dog wing from Wauconda that finished round the hoop and got to the foul line at a nice clip. Competed on the defensive end and rebounded well for his size.

Trevor Sepser (CBG)

Good passing guard who made sound decisions with the rock in his hands along with being an effective player in the open floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='3585233' first='Trey' last='Gillespie'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears'])

The Carterville 5'10” point guard is quick off the dribble and a slick driver off the bounce with a soft touch finishing game.

Hunter Johnson ([program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears'])

Carlyle 6'6” post had a breakout game on Saturday as the big bodied five man rebounded extremely well in his area on both ends. Was particularly effective on the offensive end getting second chance points on an array of put backs. Sealed in the high/low game played with physicality around the hoop.

[player_tooltip player_id='2865704' first='Jaden' last='Healy'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears'])

NCOE 5'9” guard is a solid athlete that pushed in transition, banged in a three, and blocked a jump shot on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='3583359' first='Parker' last='Hodge'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears'])

Hodge is a 5'10” point guard out of Waltonville who is smooth taking it to the rim for scores in the paint along with reverse layups.

[player_tooltip player_id='3582939' first='Dane' last='Conklin'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears'])

Conklin is a plus shooter from Flora that showcased that when we were watching him as he can stretch the floor with perimeter shot making.
