The 2024-25 SCHSL State Championships began on February 27th and continued through March 8th at the Florence Center in Florence, South Carolina. This was a great opportunity to have some of the best the state has to offer under the same roof. The first State Champion crowned was Denmark-Olar High School in Class 1A. Check out my Class 1A All State Championships Team, featuring two players from the State Champion, one from the runner-up, and one from each of the Upper State and Lower State runners-up:

[player_tooltip player_id='1225770' first='Joshua' last='Goodman'] (Denmark-Olar) - Goodman was arguably the most dominant player regardless of class across his two games in Florence, putting up 21 points and 6 rebounds in the Lower State Championship and 28 points and 9 rebounds in the State Championship game. He is a terrific athlete with good positional size and positively affects the game in several ways. However, one that stood out and should intrigue College Coaches is the perimeter shooting. He knocked down five total threes including three of his four attempts against Abbeville in the final, proving that he can shoot the ball well enough to earn an opportunity at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1951732' first='Terance' last='Hinton'] (Denmark-Olar) - The second Viking who was most impactful was Hinton. Terance averaged 13.5 PPG, 5.0 APG, and 4.5 SPG across two games at the State Championships. He is a blur in the open floor and both navigates traffic and sees the floor well. Although he is at his best when attacking in transition, Hinton also showed a good feel in the half-court for when to turn the corner towards the basket or hit open teammates on the perimeter. Terance is a three-sport athlete at Denmark-Olar and received his first college basketball offer from Vorhees in February.

[player_tooltip player_id='1848143' first='Jaden' last='Baylor'] (Abbeville) - Without Jaden, this Abbeville season would have ended much earlier. He put the team on his back on several occasions, including 27 points in the Upper State Championship win over CA Johnson. In that game, he knocked down five threes and then followed up with four makes in the State Championship game versus Denmark-Olar. Baylor has deep range and can stroke it spotting up or off the dribble. He also has a good handle and plays well through contact. Jaden left a great impression across two games and Florence and is a likely favorite to be next year's Class 1A Player of the Year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2149135' first='Milton' last='McCray'] (CA Johnson) - McCray had a very good Sophomore campaign and continued it to the Upper State Championship last week. He burst out of the game with three threes in the first quarter and finished with a team-high 13 points despite the loss. Milton is one of the best shooters in Class 1A but can also make plays off the dribble when defenses play tight on him. On the offensive end, he showed off his handle, vision, and speed, along with a nice and-one floater, while racking up 2 blocks and a steal on the defensive end as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2211021' first='Terrance' last='McFadden'] (Bethune-Bowman) - McFadden was an important piece in Bethune-Bowman's State Championship-winning season last year and played a crucial role in getting the Mohawks to Florence again this year. He had a 15-point 13-rebound double-double in the Lower State Championship loss to Denmark-Olar. In that dominant performance, Terrence displayed his bruising body, excellent passing ability, soft hands and activity on the defensive end, and finishing ability in the paint. Most of McFadden's scoring came in the second-chance department, with stretches where he cleaned up his team's misses frequently.
