-Continue to come away impressed by the lightning bolt of energy that Tech Prep gets at the point guard spot with Polk now in the starting lineup. A dynamic lead guard in transition whose speed and handle make it very difficult to stay in front of, Polk generates a ton of paint touches in each game to force the defense to collapse. Polk got it going early with a C+S wing 3 out of the baseline out of bounds set then hit a baseline pull-up to put his team up for good at the end of the 1Q. Polk always comes away with a few steals to go along with a nice mix of assists and rebounds that underline his impact on the contest.

-First time seeing Johnson this year and he did not disappoint, imposing his will with extremely physical play at both ends of the floor. It's not often that you see a point guard rotate over from the weak side for a block but he punched a layup attempt, gathered the rebound, and had the awareness to hit a teammate at the opposite end with a perfect baseball pass from inside the paint. Liked the diversity in his shot diet throughout the contest as Johnson scored off of back cuts, hit leaning floaters off glass, hit a smooth double crossover before getting into a one-leg floater that the defense never had a chance of block, and bulldozed his way to the rim to finish with the flourish over the defender. The play-making and vision stood out throughout the contest with Johnson executing a diagonal dime through the zone press to the shooter, getting two feet in the paint to kick to shooters, and keeping his head up on a lift to catch the BLOB pass at the top of the key before immediately rocketing in an overhead chest pass to Ward on the low block for the easy hook shot. Johnson put a nice bow on the performance with a long rebound and made FTs to clinch the win for Largo

-The number 1 player in our 2026 rankings was cooking with gas from the beginning of the game on I St in DC in a Sunday matchup with the area's (and WCAC's #1)team Gonzaga. Samuels missed most of the 2Q after picking up his third on a rotation from the opposite wing to contest a layup. But he came back in with a vengeance, showing the full bag of tricks at the offensive end. Samuels attacked a hard closeout and hit the reverse layup, scored on several transition runouts, had a beautiful sweep and drive around the double into the pull-up 18-footer, got to the FT line, and had a monster steal and dunk to give McNamara their first lead of the game with just over a minute left to play. His personal 11-0 run coming out of intermission made it a 5-point game heading into the 4th and final frame. His shot diet has improved to take and make more high percentage looks, but he's starting to see the floor much better when double-teamed or on dribble pickups-- using his pivot efficiently to avoid turnovers and create space to get a clean pass out of his hands.

-Liked the vision and pace that Moody played in this one, thriving as a point guard that sees the floor well while also continuing to grow in his understanding of when his team also needs him to score. There was a ton of zip on his passes in the halfcourt---whether they were overhead passes from a set position in the halfcourt, pocket passes to the roller off the bounce, an alley oop to his teammate in transition from halfcourt, or 1-handed darts through traffic. Moody started off the game with a few assists to get the run going then scored on a reverse layup in transition off a long stride step before chasing his matchup back up the floor in transition to block a last-second shot that would've pushed the deficit to 8. Want to see him relocate to space at a higher level off the ball to give himself some easy C+S looks to get into an offensive rhythm before getting to his pull-up jumpers or more difficult shots.

-Wellman got to it midway through the 2Q and never looked back, turning in an efficient scoring performance to stave off a late STA comeback on the road. Wellman creates space well with bumps on pull-ups or at the rim, physically overpowering his matchup to get off a cleaner look at the rim. He got it going early with a bump and lay through the contact, had a great sprint back to deflect a pass out of bounds and halt a fastbreak, hit a high dribble pickup to avoid the charge and lay it off glass, and relocated well for an And1-3 that he made through the contact from a late defensive closeout. Wellman's ability to get to his spots in the halfcourt where he can function in equally-dangerous roles as a passer and scorer makes Sandy Spring's offense that much more dynamic.

-Really liked the patience throughout the game from Huan, passing really well out of double and triple teams in the paint to his shooters on the perimeter. He also showed how diverse his skillset is--finishing with thunderous putback dunks around the basket, showing a soft touch on hook shots in the key, hitting corner 3s, scoring well through contact in transition, and utilizing his pivot well to cover ground in the key. Had a really nice sequence where he drilled a corner 3, caught and finished a 2-handed flush in traffic, and took a steal coast to coast before laying it up with his inside hand for an AND1 basket that put the game out of reach. Really skilled prospect with a ton of upside, should continue to turn heads down the stretch run of the season and in AAU.
