. But nobody has been more impressive than the 6-foot-4 wing guard, a vital piece in helping upstart Slinger to a 10-1 record.
Simply put, Kohnen competes at a very high level and possesses tremendous poise for a young player. He is fearless, exceptionally skilled and extremely confident, traits not usually seen from a player 11 games into his varsity career.
Kohnen learned the game from his older brothers, and he obviously is an astute student because he is excelling while competing against a very good schedule. His older brother, Cade, started for Marquette High's state-championship team last winter and now is playing at UW-Eau Claire. And his slightly older brother, sophomore

(6-6), is one of the top players in the state's 2027 class.
Playing against such talented and competitive players while growing up has rounded out Joey's game. It also has taken away any gun-shyness he might have otherwise had while squaring off against teams in the North Shore Conference.
Kohnen's strong play this winter has aided the Owls to first play in league play with an 8-0 record. Last weekend against a very good Nicolet squad, Kohnen went for 23 points, four rebounds and two steals as Slinger registered an impressive 88-85 road win.
A smooth prospect with deep shooting range and a good feel for the game, Kohnen is averaging 10.5 points and 4.4 rebounds, and comes in as the No. 1-ranked player in the first Prep Hoops Wisconsin Player Rankings for the class of 2028.
Of course, much will change in terms of the 2028 Player Rankings over the next three-plus years, but it's safe to assume Kohnen will rank near the top of the class throughout his high school career.
Prep Hoops Wisconsin released a ranking of 25 of the better prospects in the state in the 2028 class today along with a long Watch List. Many players currently not listed will eventually join the ranks once they earn more varsity playing time and/or make a name for themselves on the club circuit.

is an extremely competitive and mobile 6-foot-3 wing who is averaging 7.5 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Prairie Hawks.
Like most players his age, Gnewuch has experienced some high points and low points during his 10-game varsity career. He has scored well in some outings, including 23 against a good Stoughton team. But he also has been shut out in others, most recently in Edgewood's last game against Lake Mills. Still, Gnewuch (6-4) has good size for a guard at 6-foot-3 and can get to the basket and finish. He is averaging 9.7 points and 3.5 rebounds for the young Edgewood squad.
Rosplochowski has started for a solid Appleton North squad and has shown the ability to make perimeter shots while also using his advanced physical strength to get to the basket and score. The 6-foot-0 wing is averaging 10.6 points and 2.6 rebounds for the Lightning.
