Flyin' To The Hoop brought out some of the top talent from across Ohio and the rest of the country. While a majority of the standout performers were upperclassmen, there were a couple of underclassmen who made a statement over the weekend. In this article I'll break down the five standout freshman and sophomores from a busy weekend of hoops.

There wasn't a better offensive performance put on by a young player all weekend than what Zeigler showed in the second half Vs Huntington Prep. Showing off his whole offensive bag, Zeigler was hitting some nasty pull-up jumpers in defenders faces. Doing it against a team flooded with Division I recruits, Zeigler is showing why he's one of the top freshman in Ohio and will debut extremely high in our 2028 rankings when they are published in April.

I was impressed with Jenkins defensively and as a passer against Huntington Prep. Jenkins has a long wingspan and is active on the ball defensively. Add in his high feel for the game that led to a couple hockey assists and efficient scoring at 3/6 from the floor and Jenkins had a strong performance for a Sophomore on a big stage.

I saw Keely for the first time back in December at the holiday hoopla and while he stood out at that event, his performance against Reynoldsburg further cemented his position as a top 30 ranked prospect in Ohio's 2027 class. A versatile wing who can move without the ball and has the strength and size to finish at the rim, Keely was extremely productive in the second half as the Elks made a big push to pull off the upset. It's impressive watching a Sophomore emerge as a primary scoring option for a program like Centerville and Keely has the frame and basketball IQ to fit in on the 3SSB circuit this summer with Midwest Basketball Club.

One of the elite shooters in Ohio regardless of class, Foster caught fire on Monday in a statement victory for Lima Senior against Pace Academy out of Atlanta. Few players shoot the ball with the confidence and range that Foster does and it looks really pretty coming out of his hands. He even had a windmill dunk to end the game as the Spartans secured their biggest victory of the season thus far. They'll be a team to watch in Division II as we approach playoff time.

Another one of the top 2027 guards in Ohio, Tyson and [player_tooltip player_id='2140178' first='Bryce' last='Curry'] have a nice 1-2 punch for Lakota West. On Friday night it was Curry catching fire from downtown and Monday night Tyson took over. With an early scoop layup, a sweet skip to the corner and a few 3-pointers in the first half alone, Tyson wasted no time getting active. While Lakota West was running away with the game Tyson had a leak out slam and even had a tip in layup as well. We'll see if Lakota West can string together some wins before playoff brackets are announced.
