Fishers High School once again held its Fishers Holiday Classic this week and once again, it was a fantastic event. 8 teams from different areas of the state made the trip to Fishers to compete in this two-day event. Prep Hoops Indiana was in attendance to witness all the action and were able to see some of the top prospects in the entire state all in one gym. With that said, here is my notebook.

Fishers Wins The Championship

Are you shocked? While nobody would fault you if you weren't, the Fishers Tigers earned winning the Fishers Holiday Classic this year. Before getting to the Championship, the Tigers went through South Dearborn and Chesterton to make it to the final where they faced a very tough Fort Wayne Wayne team led be senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1297001' first='Chase' last='Barnes']. Fishers and Fort Wayne Wayne battled until the near end with the Generals even leading at times and almost leading to the upset. In the end, it was sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2267046' first='Jason' last='Gardner Jr.'] leading the way with 15 points, thus winning the MVP of the championship game. He did have a good amount of help in keeping the win-streak of Fishers alive with guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1297069' first='Justin' last='Kirby'], [player_tooltip player_id='2140345' first='Cooper' last='Zachary'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1525664' first='JonAnthony' last='Hall'] stepping up when needed. The reigning Class 4A State Champions remain unbeaten.

Evansville Bosse Sneaky Good Duo

The Evansville Bosse Bulldogs have a really sneaky good guard duo and they go by the names of senior [player_tooltip player_id='2053669' first='Tizaun' last='Tomlinson'] and junior Marrius Harris. If I am being totally honest, I did not know much about the two heading into Friday but once I got eyes on them, I came away really impressed. Bosse lost to Lawrence Central in the game I watched 77-60, but what impressed me about the Bulldogs duo is that they scored 47 of those 60 points. Tomlinson led with 30 points and Harris added 17 points. They are both really good as pure shotmakers and have really good athleticism to create in the lane and around the rim. Bosse may not be a team that is fully there yet, but they have a combo that could cause chaos come Sectional time.

Other Player Notes:

[player_tooltip player_id='1539288' first='Nizyi' last='Davis'] - The senior forward played the best I have seen him play in the year I have been watching Lawrence Central. In the win over Evansville Bosse, Davis led the Bears with 20 points and 7 rebounds. He play around the rim was good as you expected, but really impressed was his multiple threes he hit.

[player_tooltip player_id='1989437' first='Logan' last='Pokorney'] - The junior Chesterton wing may be the smoothest sniper I have seen so far this high school season. At 6-foot-4, Pokorney is a length on the wing and has a jumper with flow and elevation making it easier for him to get a good shot off more times than not. He finished with 14 points in the Trojans loss to Portage.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297094' first='Michael' last='Wellman'] - The Grace signee had a sneaky good night for the Portage Indians. He quietly was the leading scorer in this game with his 14 points doing it with tough buckets around the rim. One of the more underrated players in the in-state 2025 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297112' first='Samuel' last='Wellman'] - Michael was not the only Wellman brother that had a strong night for the Portage Indians. Bethel signee [player_tooltip player_id='1297112' first='Samuel' last='Wellman'] showed why he is one of the better floor generals in the in-state 2025 class while also showing he can shot the lights out as well. He added 11 points for Portage.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297001' first='Chase' last='Barnes'] - Barnes may have been the best player in the gym during the Fishers Holiday Classic. In Fort Wayne Wayne's near win over Fishers, Barnes scored 19 points and was doing it in any which way you could think of. He is one of the more dynamic guards you find throughout the entire state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297032' first='Trey' last='Dillard'] - The big man of Fort Wayne Wayne had himself a strong night as well. In the loss vs Fishers, he added an impressive 15 points. What really made him standout to me was his tough jumpers he would make.
