Honestly, is there a better point guard in the state than [player_tooltip player_id='2140345' first='Cooper' last='Zachary']? It is a legit conversation due to what he has done this season for the undefeated Tigers. On this season, he is averaging 11.3 points and leading the team in assists with 6.1 a game. When it comes to pure playmaking, Zachary is one of the best. He competes on the defensive end and has the ability to be an elite scorer and facilitator. Watch this tremendous guard this week when Fishers hosts Franklin Central (1/31) and Carmel (2/1).

We have constantly put Matson as one of the best under-the-radar prospects in the state and that still holds true today. Matson has been spectacular this season putting up high-scoring game after high-scoring game. When it comes to the Hoosier Hills Conference, he makes a strong case as the most athletic wing in there. If you have not seen Matson, he is elite at attacking the rim while showing improvement as a three point shooter. Watch him and the Stars this week when they host Jeffersonville on Friday then travel to Terre Haute North on Saturday.

There are a ton of talented guards in Class 3A basketball and Gary West Side's [player_tooltip player_id='1560995' first='Reggie' last='Hinton'] is certainly at the top of that list. Hinton is a smaller guard but more than makes up for his size with explosiveness and toughness off of the bounce. He can get to the rim consistently and finishes in a variety of ways. Watch this talented guard for the Cougars when they travel to East Chicago Central (1/30) and then host Indianapolis Tindley (2/1).

3 Teams

Crown Point (4A) – There are not very many undefeated teams remaining in the state however, the Crown Point Bulldogs are one of them. Crown Point currently sits at 12-0 on the year with huge wins over teams such as Penn, East Chicago Central, Fort Wayne Wayne, Brebeuf Jesuit, and many more really good teams. For Crown Point, it all starts with juniors [player_tooltip player_id='1561617' first='Dikembe' last='Shaw'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1561445' first='Mason' last='Darrell'] who both have taken a major leap forward this season as players. Guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1561063' first='Kingston' last='Rhodes'], [player_tooltip player_id='1561064' first='Kaiden' last='Rhodes'], [player_tooltip player_id='1561016' first='Bryce' last='Peters'], and many others have been real solid this season for them as well. Crown Point is looking like a team that can challenge Fishers to win Class 4A. This week, they host LaPorte on Friday and then travel to South Bend Washington on Saturday.

Evansville Memorial (3A) – In Class 3A, one of the teams that has a legit shot of making it to Indianapolis come March are the Evansville Memorial Tigers. Right now, they sit an a impressive 11-2 record with their most recent loss coming from a really good Gibson Southern team in overtime. The Tigers are a very experienced group being led by seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1539999' first='Luke' last='Ellspermann'] with 18.0 ppg and [player_tooltip player_id='2053670' first='Asher' last='Evans'] with 12.5 ppg. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1560976' first='Maxx' last='Anslinger'] is also averaging 10.0 ppg as well. Sectional 32 is going to be a tough one to get out of but right now, you have to give the edge to the Tigers. This week, they travel at Princeton on Friday then travel to Boonville on Saturday.

Rock Creek Academy (1A) – A team that is slowly climbing the ranks in Class 1A are the Rock Creek Academy Lions, who sit at 9-5 so far. As of late, there wins and losses have been a little up-and-down but they do have the talent to get them back on a more consistent win level. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2485794' first='Kalann' last='Brown'] is leading the Lions with 18.4 ppg while fellow senior guard Gavon Taylor is prioviding 12.5 ppg and other senior guard Keondre Davey is at 10.1 ppg. They also have one of the best rebounders in the state with senior power forward Garrett Gullion averaging an impressive 12.3 rpg. This Rock Creek Academy team is a sneaky one in Class 1A. This week, the Lions host Southwestern (Hanover) on Tuesday and then Lanesville on Friday.

3 Matchups

Delta (3A) at Wapahani (2A), January 31st, 7:30 pm

This should be a really fun showdown between two very good teams out of both Class 3A and 2A. The 10-3 Delta Eagles will travel to face the 14-1 Wapahani Raiders Friday with both teams looking to build momentum as the playoffs get closer and closer. The matchup to watch here is Delta senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1539482' first='Jordan' last='Furney'] vs Wapahani junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561131' first='Camden' last='Bell'], both who can really put up some points. Others guys to also watch in this one include Delta players [player_tooltip player_id='2245728' first='Lucas' last='Bragg'] and Bronson Edwards and Wapahani's [player_tooltip player_id='1381463' first='Nate' last='Luce'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2046168' first='Eli' last='Andrews']. I could see this one going either way, but I will pick Wapahani to win at home.

Crispus Attucks (3A) vs Cathedral (3A), January 27th, 7:30 pm

There is no bigger game in the entire state this week than the one we have tonight at Indianapolis Tech High School. In the Indianapolis City Tournament Championship game, Crispus Attucks will face Cathedral in a true heavyweight showdown. This is going to be preview of the Sectional 26 final without question two legit Indiana All-Stars in Notre Dame signee [player_tooltip player_id='1525663' first='Brady' last='Koehler'] and Iowa signee [player_tooltip player_id='1297019' first='Dezmon' last='Briscoe'] looking to lead their teams to victory. There is a ton of other talent from top-to-bottom in this game which makes it all that more exciting. In the end, I like Crispus Attucks here. Cannot wait to see these two teams face each other again come March.

Evansville Reitz (4A) at Evansville Central (3A), January 31st, 7:30 pm

The Evansville area always has some good basketball and this week, we have arguably the best one between Reitz and Central. Both these teams combines have only loss 3 games all year and look like they can make a deep run come march. The big name to watch here in this game is easily 2027 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2195051' first='Jaylan' last='Mitchell'] but others guys that should get some focus also include [player_tooltip player_id='2466205' first='Lavell' last='Tinsley'], [player_tooltip player_id='2277793' first='Jayce' last='Swanson'], Landyn Richardson, and [player_tooltip player_id='2466228' first='Zaryen' last='Moore']. I expect this one to be close but as a far as the winner, I like Retiz to get a good win on the road.
