For our first rankings update of their year and the second of the '24-'25 season, there's been some movement within even our top 10 prospects in MD and DC. 2028 is a tricky class because you're weighing JV vs Varsity production, factoring team depth, as well as long-term upside projection. Let's dive in!

Skipworth moves up a spot to take over at #1 in our rankings for a few reasons. He's been consistently productive at both ends of the floor as a G/W defender that gives the Bulldogs some defensive versatility. His offensive development as a connector that takes what the defense gives him shows an advanced feel for a freshman.

-Physical, athletic wing that SJC can deploy as a defensive stopper to give their senior backcourt a breather throughout what will be a long and unpredictable WCAC season. Smith-Bey has flashed high level slashing ability and is beginning to knock down perimeter jumpers at a more consistent clip. Integrating a freshman into a stacked rotation has led to up and down minutes, but we expect him to carve out a more consistent role as he becomes more comfortable in the Cadets' offensive and defensive schemes.

-One of the most versatile prospects in the area, Avery has settled into his new threads playing for a North County team that should be competitive in AA County. A W/F tweener that can do a little bit of everything as a slasher, defender, rebounder, and play-maker-- it will be interesting to see how he is utilized in a new role on a new team. Avery's upside should turn into consistent production as he becomes more comfortable with his team's flow at both ends of the floor-- but he has the upside to eventually take over the top spot in these rankings over the next few years.

Bogard has been productive the entire year, turning in double doubles with consistency in a great start to the season for the Cavaliers. Bogard's athleticism has improved to serve as a better above the rim and below the rim finisher, converting most of his opportunities around the basket while protecting the paint for a Cavaliers team that doesn't have much behind him on the front line.

-An athletic W/F tweener that Coach Myles can deploy as a play-finisher and rebounder, Allen has had some standout performances as SFA has raced out to a 13-2 start to the season. Allen is still fairly new to the game but plays with a physical aggressiveness that has earned him early minutes for one of the area's most potent offenses. Will be interesting to see if he grows and develops into a skilled forward or an athletic 3+D wing but either way, he is a name to know in 2028.

-Washington's stock has been on a steady rise as he has seen the floor earlier and more often than some would expect as Sidwell's backcourt has experienced some early injuries this season. Washington brings a tenacity and assertiveness as a relentless mosquito of a defender that forces turnovers and converts the extra possessions into points at the other end. His ability to provide ball pressure and force dribble pressure without needing help defense and teammates to stunt at his matchup allows the Quakers defense to cover more ground.

-Williams' athleticism and blend of ball skills screams upside as a G/W prospect that can get it done at both ends of the floor.
-It's not easy to step onto the floor with prep school basketball players as a freshman and contribute from the jump but Muhammad has done that. A physical point guard prospect that sees the floor well, Muhammad has impressed our scouts early with the pace and patience that he plays with at both ends of the floor despite his youth. His shooting ability allows him to be effective off the ball as well, and he has been finding opportunities to attack closeouts and get to the second layer of the defense with increasing volume as he grows more comfortable with the HS game speed.

-A rangy forward with all of the tools to be a high ceiling prospect in 2028-- Aguek is battling a collection of senior forwards in practice each day and learning the nuances of the game. With his ability to shoot and put the ball on the floor while also providing the length to develop into a good shot-blocker and rebounder-- Aguek has a really high ceiling under Coach Blue and his staff.

-Big Dave played his way into a spot on probably the most loaded and senior-laden roster in the area and has been solid in his floor time. A throwback big prospect that can hit the glass, score with a soft touch around the basket, and really pass from both the high post and low post-- Mbuyamba is a name that we expect to be a name to know in the DMV's 2028 class. Coach Turner has a long history of success with undersized bigs with high feel and a good motor, fully expect Mbuyamba to add his name to that growing list on I St.
