This week, we are going to feature arguably the best overall prospect in the in-state 2025 class that is still on the board. Fort Wayne Wayne senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1297001' first='Chase' last='Barnes'] has a been a player who has seen a constant rise in his stock since the summer and has carried over to a nice year with the Generals this season. Barnes is one of the more electric, fast, and dynamic guards you will see in this class with an elite ability to be playmaker as a scorer or facilitator. Watch him this week when Wayne hosts Fort Wayne Carroll.

The Parke Heritage Wolves are 5-0 and a big reason to that is standout 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1560965' first='Treigh' last='Schelsky']. The 6'0 point guard is leading the team with 14.5 points as well as 4.2 assists. This guy is a winner and does what it takes at a high level to impact winning. He's a scorer and floor general all together. The Wolves look to keep winning this week when they travel at South Putnam on Saturday.

One of the in-state 2027 prospects that has exceeded in a more increase role for their team is 6'6 forward [player_tooltip player_id='2101318' first='Peyton' last='Miamba'] of Penn. Miamba is currently averaging 10.7 points and 2.3 rebounds a game for Penn. Miamba is a true “hybrid-forward” type that displays impressive ball skill along with size, strength, and athleticism at his young age. Penn is in action at home twice this week hosting both Michigan City (12/20) and Chesterton (12/21).

3 Teams

Cathedral (3A) – One of the teams that got shaken up this offseason as far as changing classes was the Cathedral Fighting Irish, who now run in Class 3A. Like expected, they haven't taken a step back and look as dangerous as ever. They are currently 5-2 on the season and are being led in scoring by junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561435' first='Julien' last='Smith'] with 14.8 points and Notre Dame signee [player_tooltip player_id='1525663' first='Brady' last='Koehler'] with 13.8 points. Guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1561135' first='Keaton' last='Aldridge Jr'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1297083' first='Lebron' last='Gough'] have been playing great, as well. Cathedral has booked a lot of game vs out-of-state opponents and this week they travel to Ohio to face Olentangy Orange on Saturday.

Wapahani (2A) – The runner-up of the Class 2A State Championship is picking up right where they left off as they are one of the few unbeaten teams in the state at 5-0. Right now, they are led in scoring by junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561131' first='Camden' last='Bell'] with 22.3 points per game with help by guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1381463' first='Nate' last='Luce'], Brock Zickgraf, and [player_tooltip player_id='2046168' first='Eli' last='Andrews']. The Raiders look to have another team that is going to win a games this season and have a chance to make a mother deep run in Class 2A. This week, they host Wes-Del on Friday and travel to Alexandria on Saturday.

Bloomfield (1A) – A team that you need you need to start paying attention to in Class 1A is the Bloomfield Cardinals. For the Cardinals, it all starts with 2026 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1560962' first='Blake' last='Neill'], who is one of the better guards in the southern Indiana area. The Cardinals are an impressive 4-1 with wins over Owen Valley, Edgewood and others. This week, Bloomfield has a meeting with White River Valley at home.

3 Matchups

Jeffersonville (4A) at Silver Creek (3A) – Dec. 20th, 7:30 pm

We love a good rivalry game here at Prep Hoops Indiana and this weekend features one of the best ones in the state. The Jeffersonville Red Devils make the trip over the Silver Creek on Friday in a game that features arguably the top group of players in the southern Indiana region. It's be Wright State signee duo [player_tooltip player_id='1297093' first='Michael' last='Cooper'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1373104' first='P.J.' last='Douglas'] vs Silver Creek duo [player_tooltip player_id='1385611' first='Kasen' last='Daeger'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2140328' first='Brandon' last='Hunter']. This one will be a tense one as each matchup always is. Give me Silver Creek here.

Carmel (4A) at Kokomo (4A) – Dec. 21st, 7:30 pm

This game is going to be a test for both teams. Kokomo wasted no time in reloading after the Bidunga era and are currently rolling at a 5-0 record. Carmel meanwhile, brought back most of everyone from last season's team including [player_tooltip player_id='1296972' first='Alex' last='Couto'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1560952' first='Evan' last='Harrell'], but still have some question marks surrounding what they could project to be this season. Playing at Kokomo is always tough and I think [player_tooltip player_id='1561440' first='Korbyn' last='Hammel'] and the Wildkats can protect it and remain unbeaten. Should be a real good game.

Homestead (4A) at Fort Wayne Luers (2A) – Dec. 20th, 7:30 pm

Very rarely do you see a 2A team make a strong case to have more talent than a top-end 4A team, but on paper, Luers may have just that over Homestead. Luers is one of the few unbeaten teams in the state currently thanks to their big three of Dreyln Truesdale, [player_tooltip player_id='1749047' first='Dereon' last='Truesdale'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1297012' first='Danny' last='Kelly']. Homestead is a team that we feel is a little under-the-radar with some experience on their roster and one of the better up-and-coming sophomores in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='2140416' first='Mack' last='Welker']. Luers is on a mission to compete for a Class 2A state championship and they want to build as much momentum as possible. They should beat Homestead this weekend.
