Prep Hoops Dakotas brought a list of 10 Class AA breakout prospects, and now it's time we identify 14 Class A potential breakout prospects. To make the list, the prospects need to have the potential to become impact players in Class A. Some already have been varsity contributors, while others will breakout onto the Class A scene. Let's see who's ready to fully breakout in South Dakota Class A in 2024-2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297808' first='Easton' last='Neuendorf'] will be the impact point guard that he is, but someone else will need to fill the gap with the loss of Tyson Stevenson. I think Stormo has an eye-opening season and can be a feared scorer in class A, with all the other ways he impacts the game. For Hamlin to make another run, I think Stormo will need to be big down the stretch.

I think Artz has a big-time year and could potentially be a walking double-double. His skills and coordination are improving and he'll be tough to handle for his opponents with his size. Big upside from the Junior from Baltic.

I believe Nyhaug breaks out to become one of the top 3-point shooters in class A. Looking at the Beresford roster, I think he becomes a high volume 3-point guy that will also shoot a high percentage. Beresford will need someone to step up with [player_tooltip player_id='1641198' first='Malachi' last='James'], and Nyhaug is my pick to do so. He's a long guard/wing at 6'4”, that could get on college coach's radars if he is assertive and accurate shooting the rock.

There's a ton of talent brewing at Clark/Willow Lake. [player_tooltip player_id='1655908' first='Bo' last='Begeman'] has a huge season for them in my prediction. I think he emerges as one of the top 2027's in the state by seasons end. A very long 6'5” frame, with skill and shot-making prowess. He's under control and steady as can be.

Tietz and Zac, the leaders at the guard spots for Groton Area last year have graduated, opening up a massive opportunity for [player_tooltip player_id='1548633' first='Keegen' last='Tracy'] to prove to be one of the top point guards in the state. He's electric, competes, and delivers when he's out there. Did a lot of proving already this offseason with [program_tooltip program_id='2337876' first='James' last='Valley Thunder'].

Lennox loses Porter Ihnen to D1 University of South Dakota, and I think Gerdes delivers a massive season.
Craven has already proven himself at the varsity level, but I think he can put together a special Sophomore season for Winner. I think he comes out with a bang and doesn't slow down as a two-way player that can put up scoring numbers and is an elite rebounder. It would not surprise me if he's a Sophomore All-Stater.

West Central graduated a 7-footer in Jake Kuhl, so they enter in 6'9” Junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1919285' first='Will' last='Kuhl']. I saw him live for West Central and saw him with [program_tooltip program_id='2257226' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy'], and his agility and movement seem to be improving. His passing ability flashed some at the Sanford “Who's Next” Combine as well. I think West Central is counting on him and will give him every opportunity.

Stanley County loses only one Senior, but it's a big loss in 6'5” Broch Zeeb. Duffy picks up the slack and has a breakout season in my opinion. Sometimes just that Freshman to Sophomore jump in itself is reason to warrant a breakout as well. A really good player with another offseason of growth physically, mentally, and skill.

Gylten is one of the best prospects in the state that truly hasn't had the chance to prove it yet at the varsity level. He could be a little under the radar being located West of the state, but the state will know his name after this season if he can stay healthy. He's highly skilled with prototypical positional size as a 6'3” guard. He can handle the point and play off-ball with a deadly catch and shoot game.

Hunter might actually be the most underrated prospect in the state. Miller graduated scoring guard Alex Schumacher, and I think Hunter does a lot of heavy lifting in the scoring department for Miller this season. He's got good size from the wing and can make any play in the book. Playmaker and is a knockdown 3-point shooter. He'll do it all for Miller.

The #1 rated 2027 prospect takes it up a knotch this season, by my prediction. A starter as a Freshman on the deepest team in the state, Wassenaar really takes things to another level this season. Another year matured and I think he has the confidence built up in him now to deliver massively and be one of the top players in the state, regardless of year or class.

I've mentioned Maverick's upcoming breakout a couple of times in the past, but I wanted to reiterate. Sioux Valley will have to retool some, and part of the equation is [player_tooltip player_id='1263164' first='Maverick' last='Nelson'] stepping up in a major way. I think he'll need to be around the 20 points per game mark.

Runestad is next in line for Baltic after they graduated key playmakers. I think it will be a collective effort between Runestad, [player_tooltip player_id='2623190' first='Ben' last='Erickson'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1656544' first='Kellen' last='Artz'], to fill the void that Jack Erickson and his 21.5 ppg. are leaving behind. Runestad, I believe, takes a great leap forward as a playmaker and difference-maker. By my eye, his skills are steadily improving, he's more confident, and shots are falling for him. He was at 3.4 ppg. as a Sophomore, and I think he gets above 10 points per game this season.
