Monday Night Prime Time Performers

PHI was in the gym on the first night of the season Monday, but we were also monitoring action across the state.  Here are some players and teams that caught our attention.   St. Ignatius opened the season up with a 69-54 win over Hope Academy.  They were led by #2 senior and Northwestern commit [player_tooltip player_id='1385292' first='Phoenix' last='Gill'] who had 24 points while junior standout big man Chris Bolte contributed 20 points in the win.  [player_tooltip player_id='2617437' first='Nico' last='Harris'] also was in double figures with 11 points.   Manley started their season with a 67-26 victory against Legal Prep where they got 25 points from Sheldon Keith while Yak Kizer dropped 10 points and grabbed 18 rebounds!   St. Rita 2028 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2531964' first='Angelo' last='Adams'] debuted with 15 points and a pair of dimes in their opener.   Hersey won their first game of the season against Huntley 65-43.  Sharp shooter [player_tooltip player_id='2416503' first='Charlie' last='Pomis'] had 24 points in the win.   Despite the loss 69-65 to Jacobs, Niles Notre Dame senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1434463' first='Brady' last='Sehlhorst'] had a huge night scoring 32 points against Jacobs.   Lane Tech wins a battle of CPS schools vs Phillips on opening night at DePaul Prep.  Penn commit [player_tooltip player_id='1545128' first='Dalton' last='Scantlebury'] is one of the best bigs in the state and he showed it dropping 23 points and grabbing 11 boards.   Argo scored a nice 67-64 win against Nazareth.  Kassam Saleh dropped 22 points while Darron Greer had 15 points in the win.  Sleeper face up for [player_tooltip player_id='1598755' first='Matthew' last='Callahan'] had 18 points for Nazareth.   Loyola got the win against Bulls Prep on the first night of the season.  Class of 2026 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1552480' first='Trey' last='Williams'] goes for 19 points, 7 dimes, and 4 rebounds.  Coach Livatino recorded his 400th career victory in this one.   Battle of the Lakes?  Lakes dropped Lake View 62-28 behind 19 points from [player_tooltip player_id='2407928' first='Ben' last='Newcomb'] and 13 points along with 11 rebounds from Jason Klimas.   The state's top 2026 prospect brought it in his first game as the #1 guy as Kankakee junior [player_tooltip player_id='2105360' first='Lincoln' last='Williams'] recorded 29 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in a Kankakee 81-41 win against Mahomet-Seymour.  [player_tooltip player_id='2617434' first='Myair' last='Thompson'] and Kenaz Jackson Jr are juniors we are big fans of and each had 11 points.   Schaumburg opens with a 69-49 W against Thornridge.  [player_tooltip player_id='1766477' first='Zion' last='Young'] is primed for a big senior year and he poured in 18 points in the opener with guard [player_tooltip player_id='1598733' first='Jordan' last='Tunis'] contributing 12 points.   Lincoln Way East scored a quality win against Maine South at Lyons.  [player_tooltip player_id='2397704' first='Will' last='Buchanan'] had 13 points with [player_tooltip player_id='1766467' first='Brendan' last='Sanders'] along with Evan Riiff scoring 12 points each.   Libertyville began with a 64-52 victory behind their 2026 big man [player_tooltip player_id='1552460' first='Bryce' last='Wegrzyn'] who had a monster showing of 26 points and 11 boards.  Freshman standout [player_tooltip player_id='2540198' first='Terrence' last='Davis'] had 15 points.   Cary Grove wins 73-47 on night one!  [player_tooltip player_id='2485331' first='AJ' last='Berndt'] had 18 points, Dylan Dumele went for 15 points, [player_tooltip player_id='2482184' first='Adam' last='Bauer'] notched 12 points, and Landon Nawracaj finished with 10.   Columbia is a legit small school state title contender.  They got 19 points and 10 boards from [player_tooltip player_id='2376280' first='Brody' last='Landgraf'] while str senior Sam Donald had 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Randall Rivers was also in double figures with 12 points.   Barrington was led in their 56-37 win against North Chicago by sharp shooter [player_tooltip player_id='1845354' first='Oliver' last='Gray'] with 29 points.  Big year ahead for the junior.   Marmion Academy showed out with a 74-41 against Streamwood.  Dave Malley had 18 points while Ali Tharwani and Sam Dalmann each went for 9 points.   Nashville lost to Trenton Wesclin 67-61 although 2027 standout [player_tooltip player_id='1552415' first='Maddox' last='Ritzel'] had a big night with 29 points.   Southern Illinois commit [player_tooltip player_id='1598682' first='Daniel' last='Pauliukonis'] had 15 points in his senior start for Benet in their 69-41 win against King.  2026 center [player_tooltip player_id='2105376' first='Colin' last='Stack'] went for 11 points.   Big season is expected at Lemont and it started off well winning 65-50 against Providence Catholic.  [player_tooltip player_id='2105174' first='Matas' last='Gaidukevicius'] can really knock down shots with plus athleticism and he did with 26 points.  Top 3 junior Gabriel Sularski scored 16 points in his first game at Lemont.   Hoffman Estates won 67-41 against Maine West behind 23 points from [player_tooltip player_id='2493655' first='Torey' last='Baskin'].  Daiquan Daniels contributed 11 points.   Glenbard North won 75-69 against Glenbard East.  [player_tooltip player_id='2532342' first='Lamari' last='Carpenter'] is a 2027 two guard that is primed to breakout and he started with 20 points in this one.   DePaul Prep is PHI's preseason #1 team.  They won a game against very good Niles North team 69-63 as Western Illinois commit [player_tooltip player_id='1545133' first='Makai' last='Kvamme'] had 18 points.  More backcourt help from [player_tooltip player_id='1435692' first='Rykan' last='Woo'] with 18 points and [player_tooltip player_id='1385311' first='Robert' last='Walls'] with 9 points.   Glenbard West flexed their muscle on the first night with a 57-32 win against Glenbard South.  [player_tooltip player_id='1552408' first='TJ' last='Williams'] had 16 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2389800' first='Logan' last='Glover'] dropped 11 points.  Teyion Oriental had 10 points in the win.   Chicago Marshall won 55-50 against Rockford Boylan in overtime.  DJ Laye had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 dimes.  Jordon Scott went for 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Britt Williams had 9 points.   Marian Catholic won their opener at home against Hammond Central.  [player_tooltip player_id='2723815' first='Delan' last='Davis'] had 27 points.  Two guard [player_tooltip player_id='2321398' first='Zack' last='Sharkey'] had 19 points.  Intriguing 2027 post [player_tooltip player_id='2632037' first='Landon' last='Mays'] dropped 11 points.   Glenbard East lost to Glenbard North 75-69, but had a couple notable performances in Michael Nee who had 31 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2415521' first='Danny' last='Snyder'] dropped 24 points.   Bradley Bourbonnais dominates in their opener vs Plainfield Central 68-46 with a big game from Illinois State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1545117' first='Nick' last='Allen'].  The top 10 senior had 30 points and 16 rebounds.  2026 Liam Martin had 11 points and 7 rebounds.   Air Force commit [player_tooltip player_id='2105179' first='Grant' last='Best'] led the way with 25 points for Mt. Carmel in their win as [player_tooltip player_id='1845357' first='Noah' last='Mister'] also had 20 points.   Yorkville Christian beat Westinghouse 73-48.  One of the better junior point guards in the state [player_tooltip player_id='2617400' first='Jayden' last='Riley'] had 26 points.   Wheaton Academy knocked off Bartlett 60-42 behind a big outing from top 10 2027 big man [player_tooltip player_id='2125634' first='Hayden' last='Schroeder'] who had 26 points.   Hinsdale Central starts off strong with a win over Naperville Central 65-55 as South Dakota commit [player_tooltip player_id='2105166' first='Vincas' last='Buzelis'] drops 29 points.   Curie is going to be a team that wins a lot of games with a lot of underrated prospects. [player_tooltip player_id='1845358' first='Michael' last='Oliver'] Jr had 20 points while [player_tooltip player_id='2617395' first='Jahkil' last='Jackson'] scored 18 points.   Providence Catholic senior Seth Cheney had 26 points in a loss to Lemont.
