October 18-20 I attended the annual Border League in Nevada located at various gyms around the city. I watched three days full of action-packed games versus some top prep and AIA teams from around the country.

Here are some Sophomore and Freshmen Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='1986796' first='Peyton' last='Lubash'] San Tan Charter (Pictured)

An easy scorer from all levels. He has deep three point range off the dribble and will rattle them off. He will also score with pull-ups off the dribble, quick bursts to the basket and he is a phenomenal passer and had one perfect lob pass to [player_tooltip player_id='1986797' first='Jase' last='Benjamin'].

[player_tooltip player_id='1986797' first='Jase' last='Benjamin'] San Tan Charter

A really nice showing for Benjamin backing up his ranking. He affects the game in so many ways from defense to offense. He scores with lob dunks, he will hesitate and get to the basket with reverse layups, he attacks the glass and defends multiple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2559538' first='Notorious' last='Street'] San Tan Charter

A quickly rising sophomore defensive minded guard. The lefty will catch and shoot from the three and he is a quick driver to the basket as he keeps showing you a little more each viewing. One thing he always does well though in every viewing is his defensive effort.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146269' first='Daijon' last='Grayson'] Mesa

A shifty point guard has quickness to burst past his initial defender and then will suck in the defense and kick it to a shooter with a pinpoint pass. His speed with the ball is hard to handle and scores with floaters plus can hit the jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id='1651788' first='Jakyi' last='Miles'] Mesa

A bigger scoring point guard fills it up with step backs, catch threes, pull-ups, floater, runners, step thrus with poise, pace and plays at his own speed. His passing actually stood out and was making players around him better. Usually a sign of a good player who can obviously score at will.

[player_tooltip player_id='1464983' first='Mick' last='Riordan'] Boulder Creek

A combo guard who plays on or off the ball often. He is a scorer with pull-ups off the dribble and deep triples off the catch with a super quick trigger. He reads the court well and just gets the game from the neck up. He hit a few clutch shots at the end of the second half.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146239' first='Carsyn' last='Dean'] Ironwood

A smooth bigger guard who can score multiple ways. He has a nice looking three point stroke, he scores in transition and can spin off of his defenders and get to the basket. He will fight for loose balls to rebound and look for him to play a factor in many games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555181' first='Adrian' last='Higuera'] Millennium

The point guard relieves some pressure off of their big three with his favorite pull-up from mid-range and he can hit the catch three. His ability to handle and make a play gives the Tigers another sure ball handler who will make a smart read with the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291974' first='Nick' last='Reber'] Highland

A thicker framed natural downhill guard who takes contact well. He can hit the three off the dribble and can pull-up from mid-range. He has a really good feel to make a play and brings some skill and toughness to the Hawks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1873684' first='Tyson' last='Crandall'] Highland

The undersized scoring point guard is a straight bucket. He has a super quick first step and will use his body to bounce off of his defenders despite his size. He rebounds well for position and has incredible body control to score tough baskets in the paint.
