In 2024-25, it looks as though it could be a two-team battle at the top once again for the Greater Neuse River hardware. Take a look at the early favorites!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Early Favorites</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Garner</h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Trojans look to repeat as regular season champions after going 13-1 in 2023-24 in conference action. Keaton Blums is back as is [player_tooltip player_id='1280954' first='Darius' last='Whitner'], [player_tooltip player_id='1281016' first='Kingston' last='Beale'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2299468' first='Geren' last='Holmes'] in the backcourt and perimeter attack. They'll look to bounce back after an eventful 2023-24 campaign. They fell in the third round of the NCHSAA State Playoffs this past season to Green Level and should be a force once again in the Greater Neuse River Conference.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading {"level":3} --> <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Clayton </h3> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Comets hope the additions of Ayden Smalls and [player_tooltip player_id='1225664' first='Preston' last='Copeland'] can improve things on the NCHSAA State Playoff hunt. [player_tooltip player_id='1212902' first='Justice' last='Mitchell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1365466' first='Andrew' last='Grimes'] are both back as are the backcourt of Qua'Shaun Williams and [player_tooltip player_id='1673520' first='Jeremiah' last='Henson'] giving them quite the core of experienced prospects heading into the season. 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2500754' first='Khaleil' last='Walters'] is due to break out in the rotation as well.
