It is officially rankings update time here at Prep Hoops Indiana headquarters. Throughout the month of October we will be focusing on refreshing, refining, and expanding our rankings. Along with that came the release of our initial Class of 2028 Watch List. Since all of these names are very new to us we decided to not rank any of them to begin with. That has been our common practice when introducing a new class over the last couple of years. However, with 293 prospects included, we are very happy with the depth we were able to provide the freshman class as they begin their high school careers. While we don't want to specifically “rank” any of these young prospects, we do want to highlight some of those that we know are going to be towards the top of their class. In parts one and two we highlighted eight prospects each. Now, to bring us to a round total of 25, here are nine more prospects that we believe deserve special recognition.

One of the more versatile scorers at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase, Clark was listed as one of the standouts at our event. The 6'3" wing has the positional size and athleticism to create his own shot on the perimeter while also being hard to handle at the end of his drives at the rim. Definitely a name to remember at Hamilton Southeastern.

You can't teach the physical tools that this prospects possesses. At a legitimate 6'4"-6'5" with plus length and impressive athleticism, Gilbert has the physical makeup of a prospect well beyond his years. However, it wasn't just those physical tools that stood out at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. Gilbert scored off of the dribble, showed a smooth shooting release, and was versatile on the defensive end.

Johnson is a smooth operator with the ball in his hands. He has a quick, explosive first step when getting downhill and can change directions on a dime. Then, on the perimeter, he has a repeatable shooting stroke to help stretch the defense as well. Defensively his length allows him to be disruptive both on and off of the ball. Look for him to have a chance to get into the varsity rotation as a freshman at Muncie Central.

Leggett is going to score a lot of points sooner rather than later at the varsity level. The long, athletic guard is incredibly smooth with the ball in his hands and displays great body control on his way to the rim. He has a tight handle, changes direction quickly, and can finish in a variety of ways in the intermediate range and at the rim. High upside prospect that should step into a role right away.

Another standout from our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase, Lewis was one of the most impressive on-ball perimeter defenders at the event. The 6'2" guard from Pike High School has all of the requisite physical and athletic tools to be a high-level defender. Offensively, he was an aggressive right hand driver that had success finishing at the rim. High-upside two-way prospect.

One of two Decatur Central High School freshman that we have mentioned now through this series, Love was a big time scorer at the middle school level and could be a guy that finds some time right away at the varsity level. He shoots it well from beyond the arc and has the length to extend and finish at the rim. Love is a talented all-around scorer that will join a very young, but talented backcourt for the Hawks.

Moore's future could be on the gridiron, on the hardwood, or on the baseball field. The 6'5" freshman is such a special athlete that he projects as a potential Division I player in three different sports. As it pertains to basketball, Moore is part of a talented freshman class for Coach Dave Sanders at Beech Grove. He moves very well for his size and can stretch the floor as a catch-and-shoot threat. Don't be surprised to see him in action this winter.

When a 6'8" freshman center walks into the gym and shows you just about anything on the floor you can't help but be intrigued. However, it helps even more when that 6'8" freshman center attends Carmel High School. Shostak is just beginning to scratch the surface of what he can become, but flashed some of his upside at our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. Especially if he grows another couple/few inches, don't be surprised if he is Division I big man down the road.

This 6'6" physical specimen is also an intriguing football prospect. Whether his future ends up on the gridiron or the hardwood, there is no denying that Troutman is physically dominant against his peers at this point. The left-handed forward controls the glass and finishes at the rim at a high percentage. While the overall skill set is still a bit raw, you can see the flashes of his high ceiling. It is always safe to bet on the kid with this level of physical and athletic tools.
