Expert Analysis
Brandon Ramsey | Prep Hoops Scout
A consistent top performer throughout this spring and summer, Gilbert put a bow on his month of June with a strong performance on Sunday morning. The athletic, versatile 6’5″ wing from Lawrence North High School scored it from all over the floor. He had some tough, creative finishes at the end of his drives while also showing off his silky smooth pull-up jump shot. Gilbert’s combination of positional size on the perimeter, athleticism and aggressiveness when attacking the basket, and skill level as a jump shooter makes him a very intriguing prospect. There should be more offers heading his way sooner rather than later.

If it wasn’t for Clark scoring 47, we would be talking about how incredible this 6’5″ guard from Lawrence North was on Friday too. Playing alongside Clark, Gilbert poured in 24 points of his own at the Indiana All-Star Classic. His positional size, athleticism, and shot-making ability really make him an intriguing prospect that should see more offers come his way after Charlie Hughes and into July.

It was true during the Indiana All-Star Futures Game last week and it was true again on Friday at the IBCA Top 100 Showcase. There were stretches of play where Gilbert was arguably the best player in the gym. The 6’5″ fluid athlete was dominate off of the dribble getting to the rim and using his size to elevate and score in the mid-range. There is so much to like about his offensive skill set. Division I programs should be offering him this summer.

There was a stretch of the second half, when the South All-Stars made a run and took lead against the North-Stars, where Gilbert was the best player on the floor. The fluidly athletic 6’5″ wing was hitting tough shots from mid-range and creating his own looks at the rim to lead the comeback. Gilbert, a Lawrence North High School guard/wing, finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.

We’ve been big fans of

for a while here at Prep Hoops Indiana and that is why he is ranked as a Top 10 prospect in the Class of 2028. His long, athletic, 6’5″ frame is so projectable on the perimeter and then you add his shooting ability both from beyond the arc and in the mid-range. There is a lot of upside to consider when watching the Lawrence North sophomore play. Gilbert had some strong performances for
Indy Heat
16u in Kansas City including scoring 15 points on 3-4 shooting from deep in a win over JL3 on Saturday.

of Lawrence North HS. Coming off the bench for
Indy Heat
16u, he right away impressed with his willingness to defend when the rest of the

team struggled on that end. Gilbert is a long, athletic prospects that can be a problem in the lane and around the basket. Has all the physical tools you want out of a high-end wing.

The intriguing 2028 wing from Lawrence North plays the game with loads of versatility. Has the offensive game that allows him to play all over the floor. He’s a capable shooter that demands respect on the catch. He could be more aggressive as a driver, but when he does he possesses a soft touch and an array of moves that make him a difficult cover. He’s a fluid athlete that runs the floor well. When the motor is running hot, he’s able to impact the game in both ends of the floor with his length and athleticism.

Here is what we wrote about Gilbert in our Top Performers write-up following the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp…
One of two Top 10 prospects from the Class of 2028 that attended Sunday’s Sophomore ID Camp, Gilbert certainly reiterated his placement in the rankings. The 6’5″ wing who transferred from Warren Central to Lawrence North High School is such a smooth operator on the perimeter. He shoots the ball at a high level, can attack closeouts, and floats to the rim to finish off of the bounce. We here at Prep Hoops remain very high on Gilbert as a prospect and are glad he was in attendance for our event. Look for him to have a big sophomore season for Lawrence North.
