Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
If Adams was the biggest stock riser among 2028 prospects this weekend, Nikolovski was the most improved player I saw from the winter to last weekend. Looking much more confident with the ball in his hands, Nikolovski was playing at his own pace and knocking down shots off the dribble at a high clip in a fun back and forth game with Lexington Christian Academy on their home court. While I was impressed last season with Nikolovski’s open court athleticism and slashing ability, his perimeter improvements have taken his game to a new level and he’s set to be a big riser in the next 2028 rankings update.

James is a big time athlete who continues improving as his high school career progresses. Eastern has multiple good prospects and Nikolovski could have the most potential of the group, long term. Worth a look, for sure.

Nikolovski is a player who has had an impressive start to his AAU season and has the measurables that coaches are looking for in a wing. James is also one of the highest ranked players in the class that I have admittedly never seen in person. There are several people whose opinions I trust who are very high on his long term potential. I look forward to seeing Nikolovski in person in the coming months.

Up to 6’5″ now, Nikolovski could be on the cusp of a breakout campaign next year. He passes the “looks test” with an advanced enough skillset and the physical tools to compete with the best of KY’s sophomore class. His growth as a playmaker and facilitator could be what’s needed to mark his transition from a role player to a key contributor for the Eagles. He flashed his potential on several occasions throughout the season, including when it mattered most – finishing with 10 PTS and 5 REB in the 7th Region quarterfinals.
