The first watch list for the class of 2028 was released last week. While these are considered the new kids on the block, they are some very good players. As a matter of fact, some of them will probably be varsity players this coming season. There are some impressive players in this group. In this PHLA edition, we will take a look at those players.

Menard has not had a big man to roam the middle since Jourdain Dishmond. [player_tooltip player_id='2532072' first='Aiden' last='Burch'], at 6'4", should be that person this season. Burch is a player who clears out space and rebounds on both ends. He also has a mid-range game on offense that will help him pull other bigs away from the rim. With a motor and game like his, he should be a positive asset for Menard on both ends.

Scoring point guards have been a staple in the AB Shaw staple the last few years. Clair is definitely the next one up. Christian is a lefty who likes to go left. However, he is very good at driving to the right to keep defenses honest. Clair is a fluid three point shooter who can get to the rim almost at will. He is a guard who will be ready when his number is called on the varsity level. A very well-rounded player.

Even though AB Hannan is a veteran group of players, Dantzler may steal some varsity minutes this season. He is a guard who can get to the rim or spot up from three. In transition situations, Jay is good at making the layup or making the right pass. He has a very high basketball IQ and knows how to play the game. He is a guard with a high ceiling.

Metoyer looks to be one of the next great Huntington guards. Watching him at a preseason showcase, he has a good feel for what he can do. Metoyer has the one dribble pull up and good form from behind the arc. He has an old school look in transition. Metoyer keeps his head up and sees the floor well. His ability to handle and shoot is impressive for someone just coming into the high school ranks.

STM had a lot of senior forwards leave the program. Consequently, the 6'6" forward, Moreno, should be able to help them. Brennon is a skilled forward who can shoot the baseline jumper. He can also post up on either block and score. Moreno is very mobile. So, he will not be stationary within the offense. His ability to score and rebound will be a great addition to the Cougars lineup.

Stewart is a wing/forward that will fit into exactly what Coach Sykes wants to do at BTW. He is a forward who can handle the rock in the open floor like a guard. Stewart can attack the rim from the wings and post smaller players. He likes to play on the perimeter even with his other skills. However, Devion can be a player who creates mismatches on the offensive end for his team.

If he does nothing more than spot up on the wing and drain threes, Thomas will be an asset. Thomas has shown that he can shoot better than some upperclassmen. He has long arms with a quick release. Thomas also has an upperclassman feel on how to play off players and space the floor. Playing with [player_tooltip player_id='1393932' first='Kerel' last='Dean-Woods'], he will get a ton of looks from posts and reversals. Look for Thomas to contribute early.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for the 2028 class. Look for these players above to become contributors early on. Other players in this class will more than likely impress us as the season goes. We will be here to watch them all season here at Prep Hoops Louisiana.
