Jay actively welcomes the competitive pressure on the court. He is the type of floor general who can run an offense with ease, excelling both on and off the ball due to his high basketball IQ. Archbishop Hannan has some key pieces returning, and with Dantzler leading the way, they could easily compete for another state title.

Dantzler’s primary weapon in the opening of the Tulsa Live Period was the 3-ball. His fluid, effortless release from beyond the arc looked great. Knocking down three triples, he showed excellent preparation before the catch, resetting his feet quickly and displaying deep range that forced defenders to extend past the line.
​Dantzler projects as a dangerous space-creator at the next level. His ability to hit the three-pointer in bunches changes how defenses have to rotate, opening up the floor for his teammates. If he continues to showcase this level of perimeter consistency and steady composure throughout the live period, expect his stock to rise significantly on recruiting boards due to his efforts from the weekend.

Dantzler has already shifted from a player with potential to a player that produces. His ability to make things happen on the court is where his hoop value lies. He is a shifty creator with all of the basic things required for a point guard. He plays with high IQ and pace, along with understanding how to read defensive sets and adjust to different basketball situations. His acknowledgement as District MVP in one of the toughest districts in the state is a clear nod to his performance. He is a big shot maker that plays the game with supreme confidence. This will be a big summer, and coaches will be impressed with his overall, all-around game. 

Having a peek at Hannan and the style of ball they play it is obvious they play a high IQ style of ball. The ball moves, the players move, and quick decisions have to be made. That requires skill along with in-game understanding. The younger Dantzler demonstrated his skill very clearly. With or without the ball, he is effective on the court, and both sides of the ball get equal attention. With the ball, he can score and facilitate. Off the ball, he is moving and looking for opportunities and is an elite shooter. On defense, the kid is relentless and active. Ranked at #11 in the class, he is a clear next-level player.

He has a solid basketball frame with a lower body that is built to change directions on offense and defense. Nobody in the gym could stop him offensively and he did it in every basketball way. He is a player that you just stop counting his points and watch his other skills. He is a willing facilitator, and he delivers on point passes with precision. He is a gamer and an easy choice for our First Team Sophomore ID Camp Team.

Jay was on a mission all camp, playing like he had a point to prove. He scored with ease, knocking down threes and attacking defenders off the bounce. Using his strong, athletic frame, he consistently created separation. His one-dribble pull-up was a reliable weapon that kept defenders on their heels.

Dantzler defended with phenomenal hand activity, constantly jabbing, swiping, and poking at the ball. He forced turnovers by making handlers uncomfortable and disrupting their rhythm, often creating transition chances from live-ball steals. His defensive instincts and timing were elite.

Dantzler is one of the top two point guards in the class. He can get to the hole almost on anyone and finish with either hand. Dantzler has the one dribble pull-up from the mid-range and can stroke it from three. His ability to make good decisions in transition makes him one of the more well equipped players in 2028.

Even though AB Hannan is a veteran group of players, Dantzler may steal some varsity minutes this season. He is a guard who can get to the rim or spot up from three. In transition situations, Jay is good at making the layup or making the right pass. He has a very high basketball IQ and knows how to play the game. He is a guard with a high ceiling.
