High School Spotlight: Terre Haute North Patriots

The season is still a few months away, but with team workouts starting to take place soon, it is the perfect time to start previewing the season. In this series, we will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and notable games for the upcoming season. For today's spotlight, we take a look at the Terre Haute North Patriots.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Quick Hitters</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Went 22-4 last season.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Defeated by Avon in Sectionals.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Head Coach Todd Woelfle returns for 17th season as the head coach. 233-167 overall record.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Viewed a possible favorite in Class 4A to make a deep run in the state tournament. </li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2053676' first='Bryce' last='Renn']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Man, selecting a player for both the "Top Player" and "Potential Breakout Player" for Terre Haute North was a lot more difficult than what I thought it would be. After long thought, I decided to go with senior power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2053676' first='Bryce' last='Renn']. Renn, who is listed at a lanky 6'10, brings back 6.5 points and 4.9 rebounds and is one of the producers of this Terre Haute North team that is returning. With a few graduations from last year's squad, Renn is expected to have a more impactful role for the Patriots and from what we saw out of him over the summer, he should be more than ready to take on that. Renn is a real intriguing big man prospect and has one of the more unique skillsets at his position in the 2025 class. He needs to add lots more strength, but his length and athleticism make him one of the better bigs we have. Potential to be a double-double contributor. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2140323' first='Blake' last='Hammond']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Like I mentioned above, selecting a player for each category was extremely difficult and honestly, you could make a strong case that [player_tooltip player_id='2140323' first='Blake' last='Hammond'] is the top player for Terre Haute North this upcoming season. Hammond missed most of his freshman season with an injury but has bounced back nicely from what we saw of him over the AAU season with [program_tooltip program_id='2317250' first='Indiana' last='Elite 3SSB'] 2027. Big, strong, and versatile, those are just some of the characteristics of this Terre Haute North High School sophomore. For his size and position, his ball handling is fantastic and he is able to play at any spot he wants to due to his 6'3″ frame and skill.
