Prep Hoops Dakotas is looking at more of the prospects from the exciting 2028 class, with in-depth evaluations on five prospects. Included are four notable and deserving athletes plus an exciting STUD prospect is featured that I have written on for Prep Hoops Next in the past, and he now makes his debut on Prep Hoops Dakotas. He's a must-know prospect with a video to prove it as well. I think all five have next-level ceilings. Let's break them down.

Mwenentanda is one of the top overall prospects in the state, but he's one I've not yet ranked because I didn't see him in his 14U season with Mokan of the EYBL this offseason. I did see him in his 13U offseason with Sanford, covering for the Prep Hoops Next Circuit. He's one Prep Hoops Dakotas will have a keen eye on early to see how he progresses with Sioux Falls Washington and what his role will be and what level he lands with. He's getting National attention, where he's getting invited to elite camps. By sources, he's developing into a long wing, and he offers a boatload of upside. His sister currently plays for D1 University of Texas, and Musunguindji also brings a ton of excitement to South Dakota basketball. Below is a clip from Courtside Films' Instagram account to show what Mwenentanda is capable of and his immense upside. You'll be hearing and seeing his name plenty.

Lincoln is a really nice prospect in the 2028 class. One that could surprise and develop into a surprisingly valuable prospect. He already has a nicely-developed skill set, in which he can play fast with the ball and is an attacker. The lefty guard has a really nice handle on the ball that he uses to slice through defenses in transition and break them down in the half court. He was bringing the ball up at the Freshman Showcase and showed some sizzle with the ball and knockdown ability from three off the dribble. Though he handled the ball at the Freshman Showcase, I like him as a guard on the wing that can catch a pass and either shoot or create something going at the hoop. He made some impressive off-script finishes at the rim. Defensively at the Showcase, he showed quick feet in bursts, but chose to play in front instead of pressuring the ball. He was saving himself to show off his offensive prowess, it seemed.

There's a lot of time still, but I think he's a next level guard at the NAIA level. He'll be with [program_tooltip program_id='2228190' first='TEAM' last='Warwick']'s top 15U team next offseason.

Plamp was at a Dakotas Freshman Showcase and was highly productive in a non-flashy manner. He doesn't get fancy with the ball on the wing, he just puts his head down and is a straight line attacker — that will go at contact to draw fouls or finish. A winning player that was finishing his opportunities very efficiently. He got on the offensive glass for put-back finishers near the hoop. Defensively, he's extremely locked-in with intent focus on his matchup. He's so action-ready on D that he even uses his hands to measure the ball-handler's hips and stay in even position. He can defend on the wing and he adamantly will get in rebounding position every time the ball goes up. Not an elite jumper, but finds a way to secure the ball. He's a prospect that needs some more offensive development as a ball-handler and outside shooter, but he possesses all the intangibles that attract college coaches. If he becomes a three-point threat, he becomes a very solid all-around prospect. Mitchell surely does have some upcoming talent in the 2027 and 2028 classes with [player_tooltip player_id='2250315' first='Collin' last='Weier'], [player_tooltip player_id='2250346' first='Owen' last='Raml'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2132568' first='Lincoln' last='Bottum'] in the 2027 class and Plamp and [player_tooltip player_id='2344233' first='Owen' last='Schelske'] in the 2028 class. They'll have good depth at the guard/wing spots, with Plamp being one of those key guys I think that Mitchell will count on. He'll be with [program_tooltip program_id='2257226' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy'] in his 15U season. Sanford's coaching staff sees a “dog” mentality in Plamp, with his motor and on-court demeanor. A winner that every well-rounded and championship team needs.

Lincoln I've known for a couple of years now. He has elite bounce and athleticism for his age group. He's also a stud jumper and runner in track & field, by my research. He's with [program_tooltip program_id='2257226' first='Sanford' last='Sports Academy'] and was also at the Dakotas Freshman Showcase, where I thought he played fast, athletic, and with a great motor. He's a lengthy and lean wing that can slash off the dribble and finish at the hoop with length and verticality. He simply jumps so well that he gets the ball over defensive hands in most matchups to finish cleanly off the glass at the rim. He's also a capable but not elite three-point shooter. I thought he saw the floor really well at the Freshman Showcase and showed passing ability to zip around skip passes to open shooters. He was constantly driving and kicking and got the ball moving, even showing left hand passing skills. I also liked the way he defended off the ball and being available as a help defender. He contested shooters and was flying around with length. Crashed the offensive glass hard and was high-pointing the ball over his opponents.

Holscher offers some good upside, he just needs a little more development with his shooting consistency and tightening his handle, but he's not too far off.

Tristan I've only seen once live, which was this summer with BV Ambush at Prep Hoops Next Stomping Grounds. I went online on BallerTV to get a refresher on his game to make this condensed evaluation. He showed to be a skilled true point guard that can also score the rock and compete. A gamer that is quick yet plays with a controlled pace with the ball. He's somewhat methodical in his approach of the point guard position and he values the ball and possession. That's not saying he has some twitchiness to him, because he does. Doesn't make risky passes and did a good job at relieving ball pressure and showed he can back dribble out of a double team and continue offensive ball movement. Can also get by pressure off the dribble and get into the heart of the lane where he also is controlled and an effective finisher with a floater, or by putting it off the glass. It also needs to be mentioned that he's a legitimate knockdown three-point shooter that makes teams pay for leaving him open. Fluid shot that is on the money.

My crystal ball says Dulaney develops into Brandon Valley's starting point guard when his time comes. A Lincoln Mclnerney [player_tooltip player_id='2414274' first='Tristan' last='Dulaney'] backcourt sounds nice for Brandon Valley in the future. Dulaney projects to be a college prospect, with size being his only question going forward. He's brothers with South Dakota State University football commit, [player_tooltip player_id='1761714' first='Landon' last='Dulaney'], so he definitely has some athletic pedigree.
