Ethan Plamp Ethan Plamp 6'5" | PF/SF Mitchell | 2028 State SD was an absolute beast last weekend at Battle at the Lakes, putting up big numbers and consistently making his presence felt around the basket. Now heading back to his home state, it’ll be exciting to see if the Kernal big man can put together another dominant weekend. Plamp plays with strength, aggression, and nonstop persistence. He has a natural nose for the ball and consistently creates extra opportunities with his activity and toughness. Around the hoop, Ethan is extremely efficient and does a great job finishing through traffic and physicality. His motor and interior production make him a player to watch this weekend.

-Hooped with a killer’s instinct

-Hands looked good

-Nice feet maneuvering around the D

-Went hard to the rack and was not often denied

-Tough, I like his grit

-Very impressive showing from the Kernel

Plamp rises up the board a few spots, mostly because of his defensive ability and defensive effort. He’s a team defender and has the frame to defend the ball at a high-level as well.

Plamp was at a Dakotas Freshman Showcase and was highly productive in a non-flashy manner. He doesn’t get fancy with the ball on the wing, he just puts his head down and is a straight line attacker — that will go at contact to draw fouls or finish. A winning player that was finishing his opportunities very efficiently. He got on the offensive glass for put-back finishers near the hoop. Defensively, he’s extremely locked-in with intent focus on his matchup. He’s so action-ready on D that he even uses his hands to measure the ball-handler’s hips and stay in even position. He can defend on the wing and he adamantly will get in rebounding position every time the ball goes up. Not an elite jumper, but finds a way to secure the ball. He’s a prospect that needs some more offensive development as a ball-handler and outside shooter, but he possesses all the intangibles that attract college coaches. If he becomes a three-point threat, he becomes a very solid all-around prospect. Mitchell surely does have some upcoming talent in the 2027 and 2028 classes with Collin Weier Collin Weier 6'4" | SF Mitchell | 2027 SD , Owen Raml Owen Raml 6'2" | SG Mitchell | 2027 SD , and Lincoln Bottum Lincoln Bottum 6'1" | SG/CG Mitchell | 2027 in the 2027 class and Plamp and Owen Schelske Owen Schelske 6'5" | C Mitchell | 2028 State SD in the 2028 class. They’ll have good depth at the guard/wing spots, with Plamp being one of those key guys I think that Mitchell will count on. He’ll be with Sanford Sports Academy ND in his 15U season. Sanford’s coaching staff sees a “dog” mentality in Plamp, with his motor and on-court demeanor. A winner that every well-rounded and championship team needs.

Plamp has some solid length, and he was slashing through traffic and finishing in the lane very often. Handles the ball too high and loose, but he got to where he needed to get to score. Very high efficiency from the field.
