PHD: Walk me through your off-season. What did you do to improve your basketball game?

“During the offseason, I played AAU and also did lots of work with my high school team. We did many different team camps and open gyms every week.“

PHD: What’s one specific part of your game you focused on improving this offseason, and where do you feel like you’ve made the most progress?

“This offseason, I spent a lot of time driving to the hoop. Just trying to be better at making the defense collapse and then being able to kick it out.“

PHD: What does your fall look like right now? Are you playing another sport, or is it all basketball focused?

“Right now I’m playing football, but I’m still trying to get in a couple times a week to shoot around.“

PHD: What are your goals for the coming season, both individually and for your team?

“As a team, I would like to see us make it back to the state tournament. Individually, I would like to be able to score from anywhere on the court.“

PHD: Can you give some insight on an influential coach you have had? What made them memorable?

“A coach that has been really influential to me is Ryker Kreutzfeldt. He pushes me every practice to be the best version of myself and has supported me through everything I’ve gone through as a player.“

PHD: Time to give a shout to a teammate…Who do we need to know about from your high school team?

PHD: Who is your favorite player to watch in college or the NBA, and why?

“My favorite player to watch is Cooper Flagg. I’ve always liked how he makes everyone around him better.“

PHD: Where do you feel like your game has grown the most in the past year or two?

“I feel like in the last year or two I have become much better at attacking the hoop.“

PHD: Who pushes you the hardest, whether that’s a teammate, a coach, or someone you train with?

“I would say that all of my teammates push me. They all make sure that we are going 100% at practice and also getting extra reps outside of practice.“

PHD: Where is your hot spot on the floor or can you tell us about a “go-to” move you like to use?

“I think that my go-to move is a spin move to a right-handed layup.“

He was a Double-Double machine when I watched him live earlier this club season. Plamp is a tenacious rebounder who refuses to be boxed out. He scores a boatload of second-chance points, moves well without the ball, and is a strong finisher. I think he is primed for a big season with Kernels this winter. Does Ethan look like one of the top forwards at 2K26?

Ethan Plamp Ethan Plamp 6'5" | PF/SF Mitchell | 2028 State SD was an absolute beast last weekend at Battle at the Lakes, putting up big numbers and consistently making his presence felt around the basket. Now heading back to his home state, it’ll be exciting to see if the Kernal big man can put together another dominant weekend. Plamp plays with strength, aggression, and nonstop persistence. He has a natural nose for the ball and consistently creates extra opportunities with his activity and toughness. Around the hoop, Ethan is extremely efficient and does a great job finishing through traffic and physicality. His motor and interior production make him a player to watch this weekend.

-20+ points and 10+ rebounds in the second game I watched

-He was in “beast mode” inside the arc

-Drew many fouls, at the line often

-Many many offensive rebounds & 2nd chance points

-Nose for the ball

-Hooped with a killer’s instinct

-Multiple tip-in scores

-Catch & score aplenty

-Hands looked good

-Nice feet maneuvering around the D

-Went hard to the rack and was not often denied

-Tough, I like his grit

-Very impressive showing from the Kernel

Plamp rises up the board a few spots, mostly because of his defensive ability and defensive effort. He’s a team defender and has the frame to defend the ball at a high-level as well.

Plamp was at a Dakotas Freshman Showcase and was highly productive in a non-flashy manner. He doesn’t get fancy with the ball on the wing, he just puts his head down and is a straight line attacker — that will go at contact to draw fouls or finish. A winning player that was finishing his opportunities very efficiently. He got on the offensive glass for put-back finishers near the hoop. Defensively, he’s extremely locked-in with intent focus on his matchup. He’s so action-ready on D that he even uses his hands to measure the ball-handler’s hips and stay in even position. He can defend on the wing and he adamantly will get in rebounding position every time the ball goes up. Not an elite jumper, but finds a way to secure the ball. He’s a prospect that needs some more offensive development as a ball-handler and outside shooter, but he possesses all the intangibles that attract college coaches. If he becomes a three-point threat, he becomes a very solid all-around prospect. Mitchell surely does have some upcoming talent in the 2027 and 2028 classes with Collin Weier Collin Weier 6'4" | SF Mitchell | 2027 State SD , Owen Raml Owen Raml 6'2" | SG Mitchell | 2027 State SD , and Lincoln Bottum Lincoln Bottum 6'1" | SG/CG Mitchell | 2027 State SD in the 2027 class and Plamp and Owen Schelske Owen Schelske 6'5" | C Mitchell | 2028 State SD in the 2028 class. They’ll have good depth at the guard/wing spots, with Plamp being one of those key guys I think that Mitchell will count on. He’ll be with Sanford Sports Academy ND in his 15U season. Sanford’s coaching staff sees a “dog” mentality in Plamp, with his motor and on-court demeanor. A winner that every well-rounded and championship team needs.

Plamp has some solid length, and he was slashing through traffic and finishing in the lane very often. Handles the ball too high and loose, but he got to where he needed to get to score. Very high efficiency from the field.
