Preseason Player of the Year: 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1288899' first='Xzavion' last='Robinson'] (Valley)

As he showed during the Tigers' state tournament run during his sophomore season, Robinson is more than capable of being the best player on the floor on a nightly basis. Following the transfers of [player_tooltip player_id='1759897' first='Kyle' last='Cason'] and Curtis Stinson Jr, he'll be the focal point of the Valley attack during his senior year. The best player on the state's best team, Robinson is a pretty easy pick here.

First Team

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1288899' first='Xzavion' last='Robinson'] (Valley): 14.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 49.0 FG%, 70.5 FT%

Arguably the best and most explosive athlete in the state, the future Iowa State receiver is an extremely skilled guard who plays above the rim, creates off the dribble, competes on the glass, and can be one of the best defensive players in the state. Following the noted transfers, Valley will be Robinson's team, and he should put up elite numbers as a senior.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1759895' first='Trevin' last='Jirak'] (Valley): 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.0 blocks, 51.2 FG%

The future Northern Iowa big man was arguably Valley's best and most impactful player during their state title run last season. He has elite court vision and passing skills for a big man, great footwork and touch around the rim, and is a dominant rim protector. He'll pair with Robinson to give the Tigers the best inside-out tandem in the state.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1288891' first='Bode' last='Goodman'] (Waukee Northwest): 20.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.0 steals

Goodman is the league's top returning scorer, although he did so at a different school last year, putting up nearly 21 points a game at Southeast Polk. A skilled guard who can score from all three levels as well as create quality looks for his teammates, he'll be on a Northwest team that is loaded with talent. So while his scoring numbers could drop a bit, this should be Goodman's most efficient high school season.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1381420' first='Jalen' last='Richardson'] (Johnston): 10.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.0 blocks, 47.4 FG%, 43.2 3P%, 72.0 FT%

The Swiss Army knife may not put up the same eye-popping numbers that some of the other players in the CIML do on a nightly basis, but few players in the state make the same two-way impact that Richardson does. He's a versatile, skilled defender who can guard one through five, and his offensive game has really developed nicely. He shot it really well from deep and the mid-range as a junior and could serve as more of a playmaker as a senior for the Dragons.

2025 [player_tooltip player_id='2119115' first='Peyton' last='McCollum'] (Waukee Northwest)

The CIML is absolutely loaded with talent again this season, and you could make strong arguments for any of the players on the Second Team, and several of the honorable mentions, to be considered for this spot on the First Team. We'll give the nod to the newcomer from Missouri, son of new Drake head coach Ben McCollum. Peyton was a 1,000+ point scorer at his school in Missouri and will give the Wolves a dynamic playmaker who can play with or without the ball in his hands. He's a high IQ guard who can shoot it from deep, get to the bucket, or find open teammates.
