Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp – Team 1 Evaluations

Nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops. We flexed those muscles on Sunday as we welcomed in 150+ of the best freshmen in the state for our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. Then, we hosted our inaugural Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp which featured 110+ prospects including half of our Top 25 ranked players. It was an outstanding turnout and a great pool of talent for our first time introducing the event. Over the next week or so our team of scouts at Prep Hoops Indiana will evaluating every player in attendance at both events. For this one, we look at Team 1.   ***As you can imagine, trying to cover 110+ prospects in a single event is a very daunting task. Also, there always end up being a couple of jersey number discrepancies, so if you attended the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp and DID NOT receive an evaluation, please reach out to Brandon Ramsey via email coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or on Twitter @BRamseyKSR.***    Miller was one of the quicker off-ball guards that I watched throughout the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. At 6'1", the Tri-West High School sophomore prospect played with an extremely high motor and proved he could score at all three levels. He is a very productive young prospect that already has experience at the varsity level. Miller looks to have improved his game over the summer as well and should be ready for a breakout campaign this winter.     This 6'0" guard [player_tooltip player_id='2138535' first='Jackson' last='Kirk'] is one of the more exciting young prospects coming up the ranks for the Noblesville Millers. At the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp, Kirk had some of the best court vision that I saw of any guard. He is a longer lead guard that can shoot it very well from deep while also being a great passer. Kirk is an up-and-coming prospect to keep tabs on the next couple of years.     One of more exciting 2027's that was in attendance for the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp was Jeffersonville guard [player_tooltip player_id='2141037' first='Caleb' last='Jones']. Before Jones steps into a bigger role for the Red Devils this season, he was showing his talents here at our event on Sunday. He showed elite quickness off the ball and was one of the best slashers on the day. Jones also displayed great bounce and was making a few athletic plays throughout the camp as well. There is a ton of upside in this prospect.     It is always nice when you have one of the top overall scorers in the state show up for a prospect camp and we certainly had that with Bremen guard [player_tooltip player_id='2414954' first='Chase' last='Devine'] in attendance for the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. Devine was his typical, elite scoring self here. He got buckets at all three levels while showing that he is willing to get in there and fight for some rebounds as well. He has also looked to have added some more muscle and improved his overall frame as well.     You could make a very strong case that Hammond was the overall best prospect that was in attendance for the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. Big, strong, and versatile. Those are just some of the characteristics of this Terre Haute North High School sophomore. For his size and position, his ball handling is fantastic and he is able to play at any spot he wants to due to his 6'3" frame and skill. He may be the sophomore with the biggest breakout this upcoming season.     King is a 6'5" prospect out of Trinity Lutheran High School and was easily one of the more legit bigs at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. King was doing everything that you want to see out of your bigs at a camp like this. Rebounding, making things difficult on the defensive end, and getting easy scores around the rim. He also played with a really high motor.     Another big man that was in attendance for the Prep Hoops Sophomore ID Camp that stood out on Team 1. A prospect out of Logansport High School, Clem is a strong and powerful big that plays a physical brand of basketball. He loved to battle through contact and seemed like he wanted nearly every rebound there was to get. Clem consistently finishes at a high percentage and was very active on both ends of the floor.     McLaurin is a 5'10" guard out of Ben Davis High School. The Giants are known for producing very good guards over the recent years and McClaurin could be one of those in the coming years. He is a very quick guard both on and off the ball and has the speed to blow past defenders. He also showed great hands on defense and was just overall really pesky on that end of the floor. McLaurin made some nice passes at the end of his drives as well.     King III is a smaller lead guard out of Merrillville High School that showed off an extremely high motor when on the floor at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. He worked extremely hard on the defensive end of the floor showing a lot of pride on that end. Between the sophomore camp and the freshman showcase, Merrillville has some young talent coming up and King II is one of them to watch.     Jackson is a smaller guard that has some real quickness both laterally and vertically when on the floor. The Covenant Christian High School guard showcased a tight handle and the ability to make multiple moves to get by his defender and get paint touches. There are some ball skills to like in his game as he continues to develop physically.
