Prep Hoops Michigan recently updated it's class of 2025 prospect rankings. There are a lot of tough defenders on the perimeter in the list of prospects. Let's look at 5 of the top perimeter defenders in the updated rankings.

https://prephoops.com/michigan/rankings/2025-rankings/

Glassnor is a tough defender that makes life very difficult for his man. He's a terrific all around athlete that generally can't be shook for space. Glassnor has the strength to get in front of his man and physically stunt an attempt at a straightline drive.

Calling Barnes an "elite defender" probably doesn't sum it up for this young man. Coach Jackson is a terrific defensive coach and Lee has all the intangibles. His powerful base and smooth movement are a rare find in a guard. Lee can use that to alter a ball handlers path as well as beat them to their spot and force the ball out of their hands.

Versatility is the name of the game here. He doesn't just defend multiple positions, but he does it well. I could see Johnson doing the same thing at the next level. He's a high IQ defender that sees and reads the situation and stays 1 step ahead of the offense.

Meltser is a do-it-all old fashioned lead guard. He has consistently made big plays on both ends of the floor. Meltser doesn't need or use flash on the defensive end. He uses positioning and defensive angles to get big stops on that end of the floor. Meltser will be tough to score on this coming season.
