2028 Rankings: Top Point Guards

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It is SUPER early for ranking freshmen but you have to start somewhere so we are launching the Class of 2028 rankings this week. There are some super talented kids at the top of this class and several kids who we have heard of but haven't been able to see and evaluate yet. Those players were put on the Watchlist for now. Here's a breakdown of the top point guards in our inaugural 2028 rankings. Players who made the top ten overall in the class are not mentioned in this list.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:acf/position-ranking-table {"name":"acf/position-ranking-table","data":{"class":"2028","_class":"field_65cfb7374abb9","position":"77246","_position":"field_65cfbfcb19ad6","national_rankings":"0","_national_rankings":"field_660c1d73c0e49","state":"97","_state":"field_65cfb88a603fe"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-66cf5b190167a"} /--> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Tates Creek's [player_tooltip player_id='2530905' first='AJ' last='Slaughter'] (pictured above) is a dark horse if you're looking for the freshman who could make the most impact at the varsity level this season. AJ is quick and very shifty with a good handle. I'd like to see him take and make more jump shots. Not that he can't make them, I just haven't seen him enough to know how well he does shoot the ball.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Staying in the 11th region, [player_tooltip player_id='2429621' first='Mac' last='Aaron'] of Lexington Catholic is a player who has really good long term potential. A very good midrange shooter, Aaron has a little bit of a more "old school" game but he is very effective at what he does. Mac may not have a huge role for Catholic this season but he's going to be a factor for the Knights, long term.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>[player_tooltip player_id='2492699' first='Myles' last='Howard'] of CAL was one of my favorite players to watch in the Freshman Showcase. He's quick and has a good handle but I was most impressed with Howard's finishing package around the rim. Myles looks like he has some growing left to do and if he adds another 3 or 4 inches to his frame, expect him to have D1 coaches calling in the future.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Green County is loaded with talent this season but [player_tooltip player_id='2522912' first='Cooper' last='Stone'] is anxious to prove he deserves more varsity playing time than your typical 5th region freshman. Cooper was very impressive at our Freshman showcase and was one of the best smaller guards in camp, if not the best. With his skill level, Stone will be a factor in Greensburg for the next 4 years.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Rounding out the top 5, Shelby County's [player_tooltip player_id='2455854' first='Xadrian' last='Johnson'] is probably the quickest point guard of this group and certainly the flashiest. That's not a bad thing at all. Johnson had a highlight play early at camp where he dropped a defender and he made several high level passes. Just as importantly, Xadrian looked like a player who is fun to play with. Definitely a player on the radar for this season in the 8th region.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list -->
