Zay is one of the best players in Kentucky that most people aren’t familiar with. Johnson is quick and has a tight handle on the ball. Able to get downhill with ease, Xadrian is hard to stay in front of for defenders. He also shot 36% from three as a Sophomore and showed that he’s just as dangerous behind that three point line as he is at the rim.

brings a dangerous combination of ball handling and shooting, making him a tough cover on the perimeter. He creates space for himself with his handle, quickness, and footwork, allowing him to get clean looks from the outside or attack off the dribble. He’s also able to beat defenders and get to the rim, where he finishes effectively, especially with his left hand, adding another dimension to his offensive game. He’s a strong floor general as well, pairing his scoring ability with solid passing, which allows him to effectively run the point guard position and create opportunities for others.

Johnson is a confident shooter who uses his handles and quickness to create space and get his shot off quickly. He’s a tough shot maker capable of pull-ups, off-balance shots, stepbacks, and scoring with defenders closing in, and he also possesses deep range from beyond the arc.

Already mentioned as one of my top performers of the day on Sunday, I thought Johnson’s competitiveness set him apart from other guards at the event. Impactful with the ball in his hands and fearless when attacking a defense, it’s easy to see Xadrian as a future scholarship level prospect.

If there were an award for which player played the hardest on the day, I’d have to give it to Johnson. He was tireless in his effort on both ends and also showed no backdown when guarding players much bigger than him. Xay can force some bad shots but he’s quick to chase down his rebounds and even when he makes mistakes, he does it at full speed.

Shelby County has struggled to win this season but Johnson is a reason to have some long term optimism with the Rockets. A quick guard who excels at getting paint touches and scoring or kicking it out, Xadrian is going to be a solid piece for Shelby County once he stops settling for threes. When he’s getting into the paint, Johnson is a very effective point guard.

Johnson may have been the quickest prospect at the camp. Explosive with the ball in his hands, Xadrian dropped a defender on one of the first possessions of the day and followed that with a couple of nice passes that led teammates to scores. What he lacks in size, Johnson makes up for with speed and quickness. Definitely a name to remember.
