This past Sunday’s KY Expo was my first time getting a look at Johnie and his game didn’t disappoint. He has nice size for his position and an athletic frame to go with it. Regardless of who defended him, Johnie’s unique combination of height, strength, and speed seemed to create endless mismatch opportunities through which he adjusted his attack accordingly. He bullied his way into the paint against smaller guards and finished strong around the rim. When matched up against bigger forwards, he was able to use a crafty handle to set up his attack and accelerate pass his defender to get to his spot. Johnie’s motor and 3pt shooting ability also stood out throughout the day. On consecutive plays during 3v3 play, he secured back-to-back steals, one of which he dove on the ground for, and on the very next possession he swished a catch-and-shoot 3-ball.
