KY Expo '26: Team 9 Standouts

The Prep Hoops Kentucky Expo brought talent from across the state to Louisville this past Sunday. Over 85 athletes were divided into 10 teams for 5-on-5 action. Let's reflect on a few standouts from Team 9.    As another member of my <a href="https://prephoops.com/2026/09/ky-expo-26-doneahs-top-performers/">Top Performers</a> list, Tre's leadership and IQ stood out throughout the day. He showcased an advanced understanding of game situations that allowed his team to capitalize on advantages when they needed a bucket. I vividly remember him waiving off ball-side traffic to create one-on-one situations for his big man when he noticed a mismatch. On the other end of the court, he stayed in constant attack mode on defense and his intensity resulted in several turnovers and fast break opportunities. A fun guard to watch who should make some noise in the 4th Region alongside fellow Top Performer [player_tooltip player_id='3587546' first='Deuce' last='Anderson'].     This past Sunday's KY Expo was my first time getting a look at Johnie and his game didn't disappoint. He has nice size for his position and an athletic frame to go with it. Regardless of who defended him, Johnie's unique combination of height, strength, and speed seemed to create endless mismatch opportunities through which he adjusted his attack accordingly. He bullied his way into the paint against smaller guards and finished strong around the rim. When matched up against bigger forwards, he was able to use a crafty handle to set up his attack and accelerate pass his defender to get to his spot. Johnie's motor and 3pt shooting ability also stood out throughout the day. On consecutive plays during 3v3 play, he secured back-to-back steals, one of which he dove on the ground for, and on the very next possession he swished a catch-and-shoot 3-ball.     Aidan has been one of the biggest stock risers in the state over the past year and I was able to see why for myself at the KY Expo. Of all the prospects in the gym, he probably had the biggest upside given his size and skillset for his age. He'll have ample enough time for his athleticism and IQ to evolve over the next few years, and I wouldn't be surprised if he grows another inch or two. Those possibilities make for an extremely scary sight given that what you have now is a kid that can essentially score from anywhere. His shot selection stood out this past weekend as did his ability to change the game by controlling the boards. He probably shot the most free throws of any prospect I watched at the event due to the fact that other teams simply didn't have an answer for him.     Ryan might've been the craftiest guard on Team 9. He's small but his IQ is high and he knows exactly where to put the ball for others when he needed to give it up. He's very deceptive with the ball in his hands in the open court which makes him pretty difficult to contain. Constantly changing height and pace all while keeping the ball on a string. He'll have to put some work in on his body and fill out but he has some tools in place for the time being. He flashed a reliable flotation device on several occasions and found success when he did so as shot blockers charged toward him.     I was impressed with Collin's toughness throughout the day at the KY Expo. Of all the prospects I watched, I think it's safe to say that he hit the ground the most. If he caught the ball anywhere near the paint, you could bet your last dollar that a shot attempt was going up. He kept that same energy when he got opportunities for shot creation, ensuring to attack hard and leave it all out on the floor. His confidence as an off-ball slasher stood out as did his efficiency on shot attempts from the short corner. Interested to see how he performs against varsity level physicality if he's able to carve himself out a role at Scott this season.
