Dozens of players from around the state have made a major impact with their grassroots teams this spring and elevated their stocks as prospects. In this article, we take a look at eight players who have helped themselves, but there are plenty of others who could've been mentioned here.

PG [player_tooltip player_id='1199979' first='Anthony' last='Galvin'] | Cedar Falls | [program_tooltip program_id='2246861' first='Iowa' last='Barnstormers']

One of the best pure shooters in the 2025 class, Galvin has had a tremendous start to the AAU season with the Barnstormers, routinely torching teams from distance with his ability to shoot it both off the dribble and the catch. He's an intelligent lead guard who knows how to change speeds to keep the defense honest, and if he's given a few inches of space, that's all he needs to rise and fire from 30 feet.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='1436462' first='Kaden' last='Van Regenmorter'] | Western Christian | Siouxland Sports Academy

Few players in the 2025 class have the feel for the game and the IQ that Van Regenmorter possesses. A strong, physical wing who can create plays off the dribble for himself and his teammates, he sees the floor incredibly well, can stretch the floor, and loves to pound the glass on both ends of the floor. He's a physically overpowering player who does a little bit of everything, and he's a natural leader on the floor.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='1759902' first='Kayvion' last='Hodges'] | Assumption | QC Shockers

Few players helped themselves as much as Hodges did in March at the state tournament, and he has carried that momentum into the spring with the QC Shockers, who have played well on the NXT Pro circuit. Hodges is a bouncy wing who can defend multiple positions, using his combination of size, strength, length, and athleticism to battle against bigger bodies or move against guards on the perimeter. He has shown improved ball-handling and confidence in his ability to create off the dribble during the spring, providing some highlight reel dunks by attacking off the bounce and getting to the rim.

PF [player_tooltip player_id='1540183' first='Manasse' last='Kasongo Malu'] | Sioux City East | [program_tooltip program_id='2075269' first='All' last='Iowa Attack']

Malu is a fantastic athlete at 6-7 who is still fairly raw as a basketball player, but he's really starting to figure some things out on both ends of the floor, and that should be a terrifying thought for opposing teams. He looks to dunk everything around the rim, using his explosive athleticism and size to finish, and he's a really good rim protector who has displayed good timing and instincts as a shot blocker. He holds NAIA offers for basketball and a Nebraska football offer.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='1951786' first='Ben' last='Kerkhoff'] | Bettendorf | [program_tooltip program_id='2246861' first='Iowa' last='Barnstormers']

A lanky sharpshooting wing, Kerkhoff was among the best shooters in 4A basketball last season and has carried that into the spring with the Barnstormers. With his combination of size and length at 6-6/6-7, and his pure release off the catch, he's the type of player that can thrive in modern basketball as a 3-and-D wing. If he continues to improve as a ball-handler and secondary playmaker, he could see himself explode in the summer.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='2397255' first='Cole' last='Odefey'] | Bettendorf | [program_tooltip program_id='2246861' first='Iowa' last='Barnstormers']

Odefey was a really solid role player for the Bulldogs as a junior, providing them with some length, toughness, and versatility on both ends of the floor. A strong, athletic wing who looks to attack the rim off the dribble and finish over defenders, he's a player who could garner plenty of interest in the summer as he continues to develop his offensive game. He has a frame that is ready to compete, and the versatility he can provide on both ends will be valued.

PF [player_tooltip player_id='1951832' first='Cael' last='Reichter'] | North Fayette Valley | [program_tooltip program_id='2075572' first='Iowa' last='Prep']

Between his play with [program_tooltip program_id='2075572' first='Iowa' last='Prep'] and his play with the TigerHawks in a spring league, Reichter has helped himself out a lot, showcasing improved ball-handling and playmaking, which, when paired with his 6-7 frame and ability to protect the rim and stretch the floor, makes him a very intriguing prospect to monitor as we head into the summer months. He put up massive numbers (22.1 points, 13.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 3.0 blocks) as a junior and only seems to e adding more to his arsenal.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='1426697' first='Ephraim' last='Hoefert'] | Central Lyon | Siouxland Sports Academy

Hoefert is another intriguing prospect to keep an eye on because of his unique blend of size, length, and ability to shoot it from deep. At 6-8/6-9 and with a massive wingspan, he shoots it extremely well off the catch and is great moving without the ball, utilizing off-ball screens to free himself up and get his shot up with a quick release. He provides some versatility on the defensive end of the floor as well with that length, protecting the rim and making life difficult for wing ball-handlers.
