Defensively, his IQ and quickness were on full display, actively disrupting passing lanes or opposing playmakers. Adept at creating space from crossovers or multiple combo moves, once Nettles has a head of steam, there is little opponents can do to keep him from scoring at the rim. Active sparking fast breaks off the defensive rebound, Basquez routinely found teammates for easy buckets, following a halfcourt pass. Of course, his handle and lanky frame allow him to score beyond the incoming contests or contact. The defensive end is where Smoky Hill will shine, bringing a switchable group of athletes who can all handle and shoot the ball.
