Wertz does all of the little things; he rebounds, defends and moves the ball. Excellent finisher at the rim with both hands and has the ability to hit the outside shot as well as the mid range. Just incredibly solid on both ends.
Highlights
Ferdinando is a real joy to watch. Moves quite well without the ball and has one of the quicker releases I’ve seen at the showcase. Also works well in the pick and roll with his feel for where the defense is. Ferdinando also slides his feet well and got multiple steals in the passing lanes.
Fundamentally sound player who will make the extra pass and hit the open shot. Not going to wow you with speed or athleticism, but has solid strength that allows him to get to his spots. Great communicator and teammate.
Nkugwa was the best player on the court by a mile. The lefty guard is an absolutely freight train in transition and can really elevate at the hoop. He has excellent body control and can even shoot it from three, too. Defends as well — there’s not much Nkugwa can’t do.
Jacobsen uses his size and strength to find success in the paint on both ends. He showed an ability to stretch the floor while also exhibiting solid low-post footwork when they dumped it down to him. Not necessarily a leaper, but Jacobsen can still fight in the paint with other bigs.
Highlights
Holmes is a big-time athlete with length and size. Had a head-tapping dunk in the second half of this contest and also found success finishing in transition. He’s pretty raw right now but he could certainly become more comfortable with his body as the year goes on.
Highlights
Dhillon has an excellent feel for the game, especially with his back to the basket. Was excellent finding cutters and distributing from the post, and also showed some solid footwork and touch when the defense didn’t bring help. He’s undersized but he makes up for it with his IQ.
