An athletic forward who fills around the margins, Perez provides a versatile impact on the defensive end. Mobile enough to defend 2 through 4, he has found value picking a wide variety of matchups defensively. Fairly bouncy off of two feet, he gets up for rebounds with ease, bringing strong hands versus opponents. On the opposite end, he has continued to show improvement in his mechanics off the catch. Capable of ripping and attacking the rim following closeouts, he has capitalized on plenty of those driving lanes throughout local events.
A skilled playmaker at his height, the wing looks to put pressure on the rim, although Sevy possesses plenty of options. Putting the ball on the floor better than most in the state at his height and class, Sevy is a skilled driver or post shotmaker when necessary. Active out of turnaround shot attempts within the mid-range, his high release point allows him to knock down attempts over contests with ease.
Highlights
One of the strongest forwards in the class, Tarpenning has been a dependable rebounder for 7070 throughout the Spring. Outmuscling opponents on box outs, he is no easy task to deal with on the defensive end. Effective guarding 3 through 5, he remains an effective interior defender. Moving the floor well for a forward at his size, he is a threat to leak out in transition for ambidextrous finishes. He continues to improve putting the ball on the floor, leveraging his strength advantage while attacking the rim.
Elbe continues to improve his shooting consistency behind the arc, showing potential as a knockdown shooter behind the arc. Continuing to improve his wing skills, the forward brings plenty of upside along the perimeter. His wiry frame at 6’5 or 6’6 makes him a useful defensive presence, effectively swatting away shots from help or at the point of attack. Improvements of strength and the handle will be areas worth following over the rest of this summer.
Highlights
Dessalegn’s soft touch around the rim has played a huge part in his offensive production throughout the spring with Box State Legacy. Alongside his wide reach and assertiveness on the glass, he always finds himself by the ball once it bounces off the rim. Continuing to work towards his wing scoring abilities, he is attacking from the perimeter a drastically larger volume than 18 months ago. Like so many forwards in this class, his continued growth as a playmaker and shotmaker from the perimeter will make the difference in his progression.
Land brings improvements in skill, getting more efficient on jump shot attempts. Showing upside stepping into pull-up attempts when provided space, he has taken notable strides as a complementary shotmaker with Flyers 16u. His handle has improved as well, capable of attacking slower matchups for drives following a crossover. Given his fluidity with his height, Land is quickly up and coming forward for Mountain Vista.
