We’ve certainly noticed Muilenburg’s ability to shoot the basketball from distance, and that was certainly on display at the Portland Spring Preview but the rising senior also showed off some ball skills and getting to the hoop and finishing including a power one-handed jam. There’s no question the rising senior from Ridgeview has intrigue thanks to his combination of size and shooting ability.
Highlights
While he may never be a high flyer kind of guy, Rosenberg is still extremely effective because he knows what he’s capable of as a below-the-rim kind of operator. He used his body well in the paint to establish position in the post and utilized footwork for some crafty finishes and was very effective sealing off to soak up rebounds. Rosenberg showed off a nice face-up jumper as well.
With his length and ranginess, Stanton really made an impact on the defensive end with multiple steals and deflections but also as a shot blocker giving help off the weak side. He continues to show off his development on the offensive end. Some creative finishes around the basket but where he caught our eye is with his court vision and passing ability as he was able to run at the point at times in halfcourt settings.
We only got a chance to watch a little of Bittle in action but he did exactly how we thought he would do. The rising senior from Crater did it all on the court on both ends, from showing off an improved jumper with range, making the extra pass to a teammate for an easy score, to being a factor on the defensive end with his positioning and natural skill at blocking shots. We caught up with all-around performer and will have an update posted soon.
Zanon continues to emerge as a traditional post player. With his 6-foot-8 height and bulky size, he set up shop in the lane and used a soft touch around the hoop for scores. He was enough of a threat to command double teams, of which he did a great job passing out to open teammates for shots. The rising Central Catholic junior ran the floor fairly well and even knocked down some mid-range jumpers as the trailer in transition.
