We are in the thick of Spring Basketball season, with several AAU teams having already participated in multiple events. This weekend local players are participating in tournaments all over the country. While making your list of tournament stops, here’s a look at some players you’re going to want to check out this weekend.
Have to catch up with Broxie, as the big fella is one of the state’s top Glass Cleaners. I know he’s a handful down low, looking to see if he’s improved his free throw shooting ability as the powerful forward will probably be getting to the line quite a bit this Grassroots season.
It’s been much to long since I’ve seen one of the state’s most dynamic players. He’s shifty with some terrific finishing ability. His two way ability is something to keep an eye out for, as the guard will lock up full court.
There’s going to be a moment on the Grassroots scene where Reed just pops. He has some physical gifts, and is a player that has shown the ability to get incrementally better each time I’ve seen him. The one thing I can count on is his rim running ability. Watch out for the high energy forward’s consistent hard playing ways this Grassroots season.
Popoola may have one of the best IQ’s of any players in his class. He is unique, with his ability to score, without needing a ton of action run for him. Keep an eye out for his defensive instincts, as he has a been successful jumping lanes, turning defense into offense in the past.
Saw Wall a couple weeks ago and he didn’t disappoint. He looks stronger, and played with more quickness and explosion than I remember. Watch for him to increase his scoring areas, as he’s shown that he can finish in transition as well as knock down the open three.
The Las Vegas Knicks are the Miami Heat of Vegas Grassroots Basketball. No matter who they pick up they always end up turning them into someone that fits Knick culture. Robinson is the latest example. The 6’6 hybrid forward is oozing with talent, with just a little bit of that Knick edge included into his game, watch out. Specifically watch for his perimeter game to evolve, as he has shown the ability to put the ball on the ground and create for himself.
Highlights
Keep an eye out for Webb as a potential stockriser. He came to the Venom Rankings Run, and played well, showing a variety of offensive skills. Watch for him to take a more leadership role this Grassroots season, as the talented Floor General has some natural PG instincts.
We will be putting out our Way To Early High School Preview next month, keep an eye out for Abittan to be one of the most integral part of LMCA ultimate success next season. He’s a knock down shooter, with multi make ability. Watch for him this Grassroots season, as he plays with a Prominent Elite squad known for taking on all comers. Playing against consistent bigger, stronger, faster comp, should go a long way into making him a major piece for the 2A contributors.
