Recent event coverage has highlighted the current thin margins that separate the top tier of 2027 guards. Tuesday night was a reminder that [player_tooltip player_id='2140748' first='Jacques' last='Mitchell'] is very much in the conversation. He won the game for the Hornets in overtime, and was impressive throughout against a bigger Tigers squad. He's a strong and explosive, bully ball guard. But is continuing to refine his playmaking skills to go along with his ability to get downhill at seemingly well. At the rim he can finish through contact or avoid it all together with deft footwork, body control and A plus reaction time. Mitchell had the opportunity to spend all spring competing against high level national competition, so expect an even bigger sophomore campaign for the big time guard prospect.

The Ropers had one of the best freshman classes in Tulsa. Check ins last season and during spring AAU season have been featured around [player_tooltip player_id='2327104' first='Branden' last='Crosslen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2327102' first='Dkarrion' last='Titsworth']. Second half action proved that the Rogers' future is built around more than just that duo. Fellow 2027 prospects [player_tooltip player_id='2450447' first='Cyrus' last='Pete'] and Terence Buckely were big time producers. Pete is a guard who feasted in transition thanks to his good end to end speed, and a good first step in the halfcourt. He's on the smaller side ow, but has some dynamism to his game and youth is on his side regarding potentially still growing. Buckely is another quality guard, and he got it going from distance. Even hitting one that was a few feet behind the three point line. With a young core that gained valuable experience last season, Rogers looks set to be a factor in an changing Class 5A east side picture.

BK Summer League will be a strong developmental spot all June for risings Class of 2027 prospects from Tulsa. Edison has newcomer guard [player_tooltip player_id='2140795' first='TJ' last='Hooks'] to pair with high upside Deandre Rhodes JR. Sharpshooting [player_tooltip player_id='2327598' first='Julian' last='Wilson'] is cutting his teeth with a bigger ball handler and playmaking role with a Holland Hall. The Dutch's recent trend of player development indicates that he should emerge as a bigger contributor, sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, Booker T Washington once again has an embarrassment of riches at the guard spot, with [player_tooltip player_id='2140742' first='Gregory' last='Nash'] getting more run as he aims to emerge as a playmaking threat for the waves of Hornets that will attack the opposition.
