Running with a stacked Team Herro EYBL team, Briggs still managed to stand out. At 6’8 he provides plenty of size in the paint at the 15u level, but is more than just a big body that sits on the block. In the two games I saw Briggs was stretching the floor with his three point shot, and showcased some solid mobility at his size. I liked how he fought for second chance points on the board, and was comfortable playing around the basket and on the perimeter. High ceiling prospect out of Farmington.
Highlights
Keegan helped lead his D1 Minnesota Gold team to a 4-0 record over the weekend, providing a scoring threat from beyond the arc. Caught fire in the second half of the game I watched, showing no hesitation to let it fly off the catch. Defenders can’t afford to lose track of him for a second, because if Keegan gets just a little bit of space beyond the arc he can make you pay. Averaged 13.8 ppg during the winter helping lead his Maple Grove team to a 20-9 record.
Deron Russell Deron Russell 5’11” | PG Waseca | 2026 State MN was a go-to scoring option for D1 Minnesota Gold on Sunday, as good things seemed to happen when the ball was in his hands. He’s an electric athlete, with the agility to change directions in an instant to get downhill towards the rim. Once inside he has excellent body control and the athleticism to hang in the air to finish in a variety of ways. Showed a solid jumper as well. Deron is also a standout DB on the football field, and that translates to the basketball court where he’s able to sit deep in a stance and lockdown opposing players with his on-ball defense.
Luther spent time playing with both the 16u and 17u teams for D1 Minnesota Gold, and was a solid performer on both ends of the floor. He has a strong frame for a sophomore, and combines that with his 6’5 height to slow down opposing bigs. Does a great job of walling up to protect the rim, and is capable of holding his ground when bigs try to back him down. Offensively he’s effective out of the high post because he can face up and attack, but also has the vision to pass out of that spot. I really like the effort that Luther plays with, hunting down any rebound or loose ball that comes his way.
Jenpa was letting it fly from deep to help lead D1 Minnesota Gold to a win on Sunday morning. The Prior Lake guard adds some additional length to the wing, and is a lights out shooter when given too much space. I was impressed with how quickly he could get squared up off the move, allowing him to catch and shoot in one fluid motion. Really helped to spread the floor for his team and provide an additional scoring punch.
Bradan was hitting tough shot after tough shot on Sunday morning. The 6’2 guard from St. Paul Central has a combination of explosive athleticism and shift handles that made him tough to keep in front of. Because of that he was able to consistently blow by his man and get to the rack, while also showing the shooting touch to create separation and knock down a pull-up jumper. Really like the intensity and effort that he was playing with for Forward Thinking Basketball.
Jeremiah showcased a lot of poise on the court for D1 Minnesota Gold. Even when a game gets sped up Jeremiah has the calming presence to slow things down and get his team under control. He’s a tough player who’s going to compete on defense, knock down his open shots, and get all of his teammates involved on offense. He may not be jumping out of the gym or hitting crazy isolation shots, but he simply goes out and produces every time I see him play. Helped lead his team to a 4-0 record over the weekend.
