I showed up to the independent league of NY2LA, for their production of the annual tournament of Swish-n-Dish. This was my tipoff to one of my favorite times of the year and I was able to take in three games and was impressed.
Game 3 Featured Game
In the Milwaukee area’s first big AAU tournament, two of what has to be the best teams in the state were paired to compete against each other. It was Power5 the Adidas shoe company team versus the Nike sponsored club of Team Herro.
Roster Notables: Power5:
Dave Bolden
Amari Allen
Javonte Edwards
Lucas Luttmerding
Roster Notables Team Herro:
Chris Davis Jr
Jalen Wilson
Stand Out Players:
Myles Herro Myles Herro 6'2" | PG Whitnall | 2025 State #237 Nation WI | 6’2″ | PG | 2025 | Team Herro
Currently ranked #9 in his class and the number 1 point guard, he didn’t do anything to hurt his stock. Matter of fact the prospect probably leveled up quite a bit. I cannot imagine better play out of a point guard. It was a superb performance that should not go unnoticed and in fact I’m going to shout it out until proven wrong. He was paired against multiple players and athletes that can play, that take defense seriously. Against a full game of pressure his play was more than solid. Calm and could not be raddled. His handles were elite and rarely a mistake on the game. He was able to get his team into their sets and he posted 9 points when the team needed them the most in the second half.
Devin Brown Devin Brown 6'7" | PF Milwaukee Academy Of Science | 2025 State #196 Nation WI | 6’7″ | W | 2025 | Power5
He works, he battles, he performs, pretty simple right? Someone else tweeted that they have seen this prospect play against most of the bigs in the state and hold his own against all of them: Truth. In an offense that at times sputtered he was one that was controlling what he could to not lose the game. He posted 16 points with 14 in the 2nd half. At times, I thought he controlled everything within the arc of the 3-point line. After seeing him a few times during the high school season and then what he did here in this game, he could be on the verge of a breakout. That of course is saying quite a bit with the reality that the prospect already owns multiple offers.
Zach Kinziger Zach Kinziger 6'3" | SG De Pere | 2025 State #127 Nation WI | 6’3″ | CG | 2025 | Team Herro
In the 2nd half of this game there was simply no better player on the court, and no one could do a thing to stop him. This is the best I have seen this prospect play. He was in a zone tallying 20 of his 28 points in the 2nd frame. He did it outside by hitting 3-3 pointers. He did it by going to the hoop and in traffic. Then he went 3 of 4 from the line at crunch time. What was remarkable was that in my opinion there was an air of leadership around him that his teammates must have sensed, because they just kept looking for him when Team Herro was taking over the game.
Others:
Xzavion Mitchell Xzavion Mitchell 6'6" | SF Oshkosh North | 2025 State #119 Nation WI (Team Hero) – poured in 14pts including 6-8 from the free throw line.
Jalen Wilson, (Team Herro) – Tallied 17 including 3-3 from the line.
Javonte Edward – scored 10 points (Power5)
Lucas Luttmerding, (Power5) – 13 points
Amari Allen, (Power5) – put in 18 points to lead the Power5 team but had a meltdown late to really hurt his team. He had a hard foul, gets a technical foul for saying something to the referee, and then starts yelling at others. This is something that has happened before and absolutely needs to change for this tremendous prospect to move forward. Keep in mind that if this player returns to Wisconsin to play his senior year, he might be inserted into the number one slot in the rankings. I think highly of him.
