As we look to get more sample size and understand how each player plays, there are still plenty of talented names on our watchlist as we get ready to rank them soon. Check out five guys who either had impressive freshman campaigns or are on the rise as grassroots season approaches.
Adams is a guy out of Southeast Raleigh that has been a dynamic lead guard for them this year, making quality contributions in his first year. He can attack the rim with the ball in his hands, even getting above the rim for some big time jams and finishes. He’s super quick and shifty with space and time, setting up his defender and making them fall for his great dribble move combos as well. Certainly will be a name to watch as he looks to make an impact with Team United 15U.
Frye is a name who should become well-known throughout the Triangle next season as he looks to make an impact on his Panther Creek group. Playing with NC Wildcats now, he’s shown off a versatile scoring punch by getting to the rim with some creative finishing as well as showing some touch on his jumper. Also a big guard/wing who can create for his teammates with the ball in his hands. With confidence, he could be a true multi-positional threat and vault up the 2027 rankings.
Showers put together some good games this year over at Lincoln Charter, shooting the ball with confidence and scoring just over 9 points per game at the varsity level. He’s shown he can help his teammates as well, making the right reads and averaging 2.3 APG even though he’s not the guy with the ball in his hands the most. He’ll need to hit a growth spurt as he’s listed at 5’8 on MaxPreps, but he can still make winning plays and be impactful for LC over the course of the next three years with the kind of skill he has.
Miller was an impressive part of the rotation for Cox Mill as the Chargers went young and rebuilt a lot this year. He operated as smooth two way guard in the backcourt for this group, operating as a secondary scorer, playmaker and defender. He has good length and instincts to poke free loose balls, turn people over, and just generally making life difficult for the opposing team as they look to execute. He’ll be an important part of a team that’s on the rise next year.
Coleman was a bright spot at West Charlotte this season, showcasing skills that make me think he’ll have a bright future there for the next three years. He’s got the capability to score it at every level, knocking down threes or getting paint touches and looking to either score or find the open man. Also pretty good positional size at 6’1 and still both growing and filling out into his long frame.
